Oil change tools

For the lug nuts, heck yes, always! I have a pricey torque wrench for that job. Snug 'em up, torque 'em up, drive around the block a couple times, torque 'em up again. No warp, no wobble, no loosey goosey.

Do you guys use torque wrenches for rotating your tires?
I definitely do like CX5-SO. I have two Craftsman DigiTork 1/2" drive torque wrenches for those lug nuts.

I tighten in an opposing pattern. Start with one, tighten just snug, go opposite, just snug, go opposite again and tighten down hard, repeat on the next two including the first two to secure them. Never had a problem. Though as of a couple years ago I use an impact wrench now.

I would extract the oil from the dip stick opening. The oil filter canister cap required a specific torque spec. I gave my oil extractor away but kept my torque wrench which I purchased specifically for my old BMW that I no longer own.

I got the fumoto on there after last oil change. Now I am looking forward to seeing how "clean" the change can be but I agree with the oil filter. I don't udnerstand why these are placed where they are under the car so that oil gets all over the place when removed.

Once filter gets slightly loose... use one of the larger zip lock bags and you can contain almost all of the spill.

I put my oil change vessel under the filter, turn it off a bit and let it drain into the funnel. When it stops draining I unscrew it the rest of the way and place the filter upside down in the drain funnel. No mess, no bags.

Gravity is a wonderful thing if you are prepared for it. One benefit of having the oil filter on the underside of the car is it offers a bit of extra oil cooling vs. a top of the engine mount.
