Nightcrosses?

Just wondering if anyone else did these. We had our first night event last Saturday. Lots of fun driving in the dark and it kind of adds a new element to things. Also - some of the prepared cars spit flames. Its very cool to watch at night. :D
Don't know any other groups that run in the dark though (shame - its a good way around the summer heat). Just wondered if anyone else was doing this.

it's been brought up in philly region...only a few obstacles. such as finding a site that will allow it, and the fact that people have to work the morning, unless it's on a weekend, in which case we would just run during the day (and think about our january events in order to beat the heat). :)

There are lights, not that they're a whole lot of good.

That's why we move to saturdays - not as much work conflicts for Sunday mornings...
Our heat index on Saturday was up over 100 midday, hard to think through that ;)

bah. maybe if you're from texas. ;)

we've been out there when it's been 100+...or 95 w/ 90%humidity. also when it's been -15 windchill. or snowing. philly don't stop for nuthin'. ;)

i do think it'd be cool to run at night, though.

Oh I still go out for events in hotter weather (and through pouring rain and bad winds - this is hurricane country down here mind you) - but its nice not to have to once or twice over the summer....

In NC, they do (did?) a "24 Heures Du MALL" where they had the course set up for 24 hours. As many runs as you want, 6 of them count. Before each run, declare if that one will count, and go...

I never got to attend, but I'd like to...

The Atlanta Region heads have discussed it quite a bit. However, they can't find a site that is appropriatly lit (don't forget, headlights are useless when corning sharply, hehe), yet they don't want to fork the bill for a few generator powered mobile light stands. Unfortunately, all of the local sites that we use are lit with sodium lighting under which it's impossible to decipher any colors.

Personally, if a relatively close region held a nighttime auto-x, I'd sign up in a heart beat.

That sounds really cool. I might have to pass the idea along to my local autox club. I'd definitely drive a little ways to do it.

NASA in NorCal used to host a Day/Night autocross, where they used the same course (maybe backwards) and put a disposable flashlight under each cone. They eventually had to stop because their insurance company decided it didn't like the idea. Unfortunately, I never got to go.
