New Bose Stereo Problems

Have you seen some of the guys that work at dealerships??

And I brought my car in to have the radio looked at, and he said the radios were on a 7-10 day back order. I'm on day 3 now. almost there...(ughdance)

Good luck, it's been almost three weeks for me. The service mgr. said it could take up to five weeks. but just keep thinking happy thoughts and everything is going to be alright. Or just keep it below 35.

Guys, I'll be picking my new 08.5 MS3 once it arrives off da boat. Hopefully within the next week or 2. Anyone think this problem been resolved on the new cars sitting on lots or on their way from Japan?

I just picked up my 08.5 CWP GT last night and I immediately tested the radio while the salesman was there and sure enough, it had the problem. I even said something to the salesman about it being a bulletin and let him listen to it. Of course after looking at me like I had 3 eye balls, he did admit that there was a noticable "issue" with the radio. There is a huge jump in volume from 34 to 35 and the EQ definitely sounds like poop. Of course I'll deal with this for a while before I go there and have them order me a new radio.

From the time I told my dealership to the time mine got fixed was 10 days. How is it taking 3-4 weeks for other people??

It took just over a month for me. The first week was the dealer BS'n around telling me they were gonna call the mazda tech line and being lazy about it. Then the rest of the time was waiting for the replacement HU to get shipped out. Then they tried to give me a hard time because they saw a power wire I ran for a sub which I hadn't even installed a LOC for yet for exactly that reason of warranty. Douche-bag tech pissed me off with that s***. Brainless moron tried explaining how you had to splice a "x-over" as he put it into the stock speaker wire.

Edit: Wow, i'm gonna have to unsubscribe from this thread. Thinking back about that tech gets me red. More so than it should, lol.

I knew about it before my test drive and was pointing it out to the salesman. He kept saying "its teh ALC". I'm thinking whatever dude.

My dealer called me on Thursday to inform me that the massive influx in replacement request had the radio on nation wide backorder (probably meaning mazda ships parts from warehouses by region). He promised to call me as soon as it came in but said he expected this could take anywhere from two weeks to a month based on what Mazda was telling him. I suspect his answer was honest and not over promising me anything. Something to keep in mind if you are waiting for a radio.

I can believe it. I have been waiting for quite a while now.

Love the car, hate the stereo!

I just picked up my new 3 GT w/ Bose and am so disappointed by the ALC feature which just plain sucks. Even when the feature is set to OFF, it still seems to do what it wants. Do you think this is a defect and I should take it in to service or is everyone having the same problem when it's set to off?

It sounds like maybe you have the same problem everyone else had that needs to be fixed. Do you notice a large difference in sound when you change the volume from 34 to 35? If so, take it in and have the stereo swapped out.

The ALC did not work correctly for me - it significantly altered the tonal balance of the music in addition to adjusting the volume. New radio fixed this as well as 34/35 issue, and overall bad sound. Dollars to donuts you have the bad radio - have it checked!

Even though my VIN falls in the range for the TSB, I spent the first week not thinking I was affected because I never expected much from the Bose system anyway (lawl) and I never go above 20 volume. But for s**** & giggles, I jacked the volume up from 34 to 35 and noticed a huge difference in decibals. So I have an appointment this Saturday to gitterdun.

I picked up one of the new 2008.5 MS3 GT IPM Pearl White. so its a new stereo style with the MP3 playback. the sub will stop with the bass then eventually the doors will not bass. all I hear is the HIGHs and no mids or low. If anyone else experienced this problem please let me know.

I had this on my 08.5 CPW as well, I couldn't figure it out - Dealership ended up having to replace the entire stereo... Took roughly a month to get in though, since it was so new, and they swapped vendors in the 08.5 with the mp3 support.

Ok, I obviously didn't read all the posts and am trying to do so now but it's taking up my whole day. I haven't even had the car for a week yet and was told by my salesman that he was not aware of any problem which I'm sure was an outright lie. Thanks all for your response. I'll be in contact with my service department.

Noticed that the thread is sorta died now.

March 30th - Dealer received my car, but I pointed out the Bose issue; at this point it has not been identified by Mazda NA.

April 3rd - Bought MS3 and decided to wait a little while until Mazda NA was aware of issue.

April 24th - Decided the wait was long enough, went in and educated the service center about my Bose issue. They allegedly ordered a replacement. This was before they were on backorder.

May 4th - Didn't want to be a pest so I gave it time, then went in to check on the order. Apparently they were on backorder through my service write-up person.

May 20th - Actually visited the dealer this time with the TSB, and wanted to know what the status was. Turns out dealer never infact ordered the radio. The service tech apologized and said he thought I hadn't wanted the replacement ordered. We clarify everything and order the radio finally.

June 10th - Had my first oil change at 1054 miles and double-checked with my service writeup person what the status is of the radio. Still on major back order. Of course, I may not have been in this situation if the radio was ordered like I originally asked in April. Guess we'll never know now.

I'm STILL waiting. But as you can see, I honestly don't drive very much or far at this point so it hasn't been too much of an inconvenience -- yet. I'm still trying to figure out why i'm still filling out my dealer's service surveys as "Perfect" as they ask me to, when they arn't taking care of me the way I feel it's appropriate.

No...chances are he has not a clue of any issues with any car nor does he care to so he can honestly say that...he's a salesman not a service writer.

I just picked up my 08.5 mz3 last Friday. It has the same stereo problem. Talked to the service manager this morning. He told me the service bulletin has been recalled and Mazda NA is researching this issue and a new fix will come up shortly. Can anyone confirm this?

Follow up to my post - Took about 20 days but the dealer received my stereo and I've had it installed. Not a bad sounding little system for stock. All problems radio related solved.
