New Bose Stereo Problems

Does anyone have the TBS # for the Bose radio? I want to call a dealer and schedule an appointment on have my radio serviced or replaced.

To the guys who got it done already, does the drivers side front speaker still sound blown at times?

Hey,
Just wanted to give my 2 cents worth...I have the same problem on a 2008.5 Mazda3 Sport, single CD, non-Bose. I took it into my dealership about a week and half ago, told them the issues and they couldn't verify themselves and nobody had heard of this issue before. Just this morning I took it into a different dealer/service dept. whom I had called beforehand. Over the phone the service manager said he had just received the service bulletin and what I was telling him matched the issues.

The technician this morning could not verify the issue (though I think my explanation was a little unclear - they thought I meant at speeds around 34-35 instead of VOLUME 34-35) so I went on a drive with him to show him. He was not really hearing what I was though I could get him to acknowledge the huge sound increase/change from 34-35. The whole bass dropout issue, at least on my car, seems pretty random and even though I was able to hear it, the technician was not. When we brought my car back the service people were a little reluctant to verify the "issue" but decided to pull the unit and run the numbers and all that to see if my unit fell under the service bulletin. After about 15 minutes they let me know that they would be ordering me a new unit, yes! 3-5 days was the estimate.

Here's some info - I saw the service bulletin for a minute but was not able to get a # off of it or a copy. I noticed that there was a VIN # range and a manufacture date range of Jan. XX, 2008 - March 20something, 2008. The service bulletin applies to all 2008.5 Mazda3 and Speed3 cars and all stereo systems, Bose or non-Bose with ALC on or off. They have to pull the unit out and get what I am assuming was a serial # and then match it with certain software codes or something like that. It's definitely a software issue with the head unit. Advice: When you bring it in be very clear about the issue(s) and turn up the bass before they test it - a technician has to verify before they will even pull the unit to figure out how to proceed.

I just got mine replaced today. It took all of 30 minutes (and most of that time was probably them washing my car :) )

The new one kicks ass, no problems, no bass dropping out, steady volume. Sweet. (headbang)

Thanks for everyone's help!

I called my service people today, to ask about the service bulletin.

They weren't aware that there WAS a bulletin yet, and had me fax it to them.

I think that's sort of a backwards way to have to do things... :)

Radio fix

Mine is finally fixed, took about a week. back ordered. Sounds alot better than the old one. ALC 3 now sounds better than the off position. Bass is way louder on ALC 3 even when sittin still. I guess it is supposed to be this way. At least the bass doesnt go in and out. The 34 to 35 is fixed also. I just wish the off position sounded as good as ALC 3.

Got mine fixed, had to bring it in so they got some number from it, then went back a week after and they swapped it.
I don't find the sound quality that great but actualy never re-tryed the ALC3.
was just happy that ALC off doesn't cut out.
Glad they fixed it without a hassle, very happy with customer service so far.
I'm in east coast Canada.(NB)
I was very happy when i found this thread and knew i wasn't alone.
Cheers (fu** I love my car)

Thanks for the bulletin link! My dealer had no clue what I was talking about so now I don't have to sit there and try to prove it to the guy while our ears bleed.

Hey guys I am a newbie here to these forums. I have a 08.5 Pearl white and I just dropped mine off this morning for the the whole bose issue and they were completely aware of it. It took them 15 minutes to call me back and say they ordered a new HU from Mazda and it will be available tomorrow for pickup. What that tells me is the HUs are available. I am alittle worried about them F-ing up my dash but I will have to wait and see tomorrow. I will report when I get it back.

Man, I've been waiting for something like two weeks for my dealer to receive my new HU. I just called them today to see whats up and the guy put me on hold to call mazda to see where it is. He tells me it's been back ordered and he expects it to arrive on monday. You all getting the quick turn around are lucky, maybe it has something to do with bose and non-bose. Mine is non-bose.

Oh yea, and you guys that are worried about the dealer messing up the dash replacing this. I really wouldn't worry. I've been in the dash to hard wire my radar detector and it's really easy to get the stereo out. There's really nothing to it. "So easy a monkey could do it" :)

New Unit and Satellite Radio

I still haven't got mine fixed, but am curious about something. Are the headunit and the satellite radio in a separate part. IE, does replacing the stereo give you a new satellite radio receiver with a new ESN which has to be set up again with Sirius? Or is it completely separate and independent.

thanks

It's a seperate part. I wish I had the sat radio in mine but I just can't justify the money for the part.

Well Mazda called me today and gave me the same bulls--t that you are all hearing, "I'm sorry but the radio didnt arrive today it should be here tomorrow". Let me ask a question, if you are overnighting a radio from Mazda USA wouldnt it be here OVERNIGHT!!? Whats the point of overnight? No, its because they dont have any radios to overnight and I am supposed to drive a rental instead of a car I bought NEW two weeks ago, ARRRRRRRRRRR! Well I will let you guys know tomorrow if the radio comes in and if it fixes the problem.

Just wondering on this stereo is there any way to fast foward a song?
I've seem to have tryed everything but nothing works.
And I mean like rewind and fast foward during a song not just skipping them.

thanks

Yeah just hold in the up or down track button on the left of the stereo.

I'm losing patience already..

I bought my MS3 on April 3rd, waited for about 3 weeks, then went and talked to the dealer. They called and placed the order.

I spoke with them around May 6th, they still hadn't gotten anything. Now I called today and asked them if they had any information. She said she hadn't heard anything yet but would call me back once she got more info. Yet again, no phone call, no information.

Granted, it's a small issue. But then that means it should be handled promptly then right? This isn't a great experience for my first visit to the service dept.
