New Bose Stereo Problems

Tell ya all what though. I replaced all the door speakers with some 3 way pioneers in my non bose and it sounds sweet as hell now. The stock speakers are absolute junk. I'm sure the speakers in the bose is the worst part of the system as well.

I went in today to get my gas cap fixed and I brought the TSB for the stereo. They said that the new head unit is on order so I will keep everyone updated as to how long they take. Hopefully not as long as some others have waited =\ because I want to hear the difference. Is it very noticeable to everyone is others have said? I assume it is worth it.

Got the replacement HU installed yesterday, and aside from the 34-35 volume issue going away, it just sounds better overall. Mid bass doesn't cut in and out randomly anymore.

Bose Issue Fixed

After having my HU on order for over 2 months, I called up Mazda corporate. My dealer was very nice about everything, but there was nothing they could do to get the HU in faster. After a few words with corporate, my HU magically arrived at my dealer the next day. I have had the new HU in since Friday with no complaints!

Update: my dealer called yesterday -- the replacement unit was in. Dropped it off at noon, was ready 'bout 1430. Picked her up after work. Sounds better at high volume and no bass dropout.

Did you have to take it in to get diagnosed first or were they aware of the TSB?

The service writer was not aware (I suspect he's new). He made a copy of the TSB when I took the car in. There was no diagnosis on the first visit. They probably did on the installation visit. No hassles and it didn't take as long as they estimated.

Went out and tested it tonight: No dropout at serious speed and windows down. Volume set at one point at "49". Almost exceeded redline at one point, the volume was so high (I shift more by ear than by the tach).

me too :(

I have the same issue. It annoys the crap outta me, when I'm just cruising along and the sound pretty much disappears. I'll go call that number, hopefully there'll be a fix for this soon.

Maybe I'll call my dealer as well...idk, he's kind of a tool and will probably try to convince me that there's nothing wrong with it.

edit: does this happen with regular CD's as well, or just MP3's? I was thinking about burning a few cd's (I have the 6 disc changer after all :) ) but if it doesn't help then I won't waste my time.

edit 2: sorry, thread was really long and I didn't read it all. Hooray for fixes!

*calls dealer* :)

Just got back from oil change appointment and the dealer looked at my non bose radio issue. They've ordered a new HU for me and will let me know once it is in.

I only get the 34-35 thing, and I only ever listen at that volume when I drive with the windows down, so it's not a huge deal to me on how long it takes to get the radio in.

Hey
I have the 08.5 MS3 with non-bose speakers. I brought my car in on the jluy 3rd-ish and they called me the tuesday after to tell me my new radio was in. Had it swapped out on saturday and what a difference. A couple of people there told me I am one of several to have this issue, and they are expecting more. They had 2-3 more radios besides mine on the shelf for other customers witht the same issue. Anyhow now with it fixxed the sound is cleaner, and crisper. No fuct up bass problems, no ALC going nuts at 10mph, no 34-35 jump and no distortion. Now it actually sounds pretty good. Like someone else said, being a bit of a sound geek it, it could be better, but its not bad. A decent set of aftermarket speakers will make a big difference I think.

On a side note I asked the dealer if I could see how its done. After the changed my oil they called me into the shop and the mechanic had me sit in the passenger seat while he showed me how its done. Pretty cool.

Finally got mine replaced. The overall quality of tone and sound are better. I was disapointed with the BOSE untill they replaced the HU.

I waited for about ten weeks until the hu arrived at the dealer. My sister is still waiting for her's to arrive (twin Speed). I called the dealer yesterday and the rep said that there is a 8-10 week expected wait period before they can get their hads on one.

Just wait, its definetly worth it.

Still waiting for mine... can't wait. It pisses me off daily that I can't listen to the radio the way it should be.
