New Bose Stereo Problems

my head unit goes stupid loud when i get it to 35 ... 34 is quite quiet, but then again my ALC is on 3 and i have 2 12 inch Alpine Type R's in my trunk...

my dealer hates me, i kinda ****** them over lol ...they hate doing anything for me.

but how would a guy go about getting that fixed? just go in and be like my radio is faulty? was there a bulletin put out concerning these radios? so they would at least know wtf im talking about(scratch)

haha, i traded in a vehicle that had turned out to be a total loss, and had been rolled, but i had no idea that it had been when i traded it in. they tried pinning a bunch of s*** on me, blah blah blah, now whenever i take my 3 in they look at me like im hitler or something..

and thanks for the info!

Yep no problem! Good luck getting it fixed, and if they give you lip, speak with their service manager or find a new dealer.

LOL I read the first page thinking this was a new post and was like OMG OLD NEWS...then i saw all the pages.../facepalm

Ya i skimmed through, I finally took my 8.5 in and they looked at it and just ordered a new unit, said about 2 day turn around, so we'll see.

I'll bet it's just a High Pass Filter that's programmed to limit bass after a certain volume.

The way I see it: If Mazda is smart enough to limit Torque in 1st and 2nd gears on MS3's, and they're smart enough to program a throttle plate adjustment after 5500 rpms to prevent damage to the engine, then theres probably a good chance they cock-blocked you from blasting your "Bose" system to it's potential and possibly blow the speakers.

In the end, it'll only save them money on Warranty replacements.

Agree.

Sorry I'm grouchy today and took a cheap shot at Bose. The system they dreamed up for our cars really is poorly thought out and sounds mostly terrible. I have heard some reasonably good car systems from Bose but this isn't one of them.
This stereo is the worst one I've ever had in a car...

my dealership said that my car is the only one that does this....wtf
Went to mine and complained about my problem. They said the same to me.

...the main reason I wanted the GT was the stereo so I wouldn't have to **** the dash and put in all aftermarket s*** to make it sound good, but if they don't fix it, looks like I will still have to(puke).
Agree. You would think you get what you pay for?

Count one more 08.5 with the 34 to 35 problem. I have owned the car for a week and it already has problems. People used to rag on my Dodge's but they never had a single problem. I'll be visiting the dealer tomorrow.QUOTE]
Still don't regret owning this car :)

After page 12 of reading on this, I decided that's enough. I have a 2007 and haven't had the 32/35 change in bass or whatever it is... My bass just always sounds like crap! Don't know if that's another common problem.

Sounds like the sub always rattles. Not always when radio is loud. Not when quiet either. Normal volume. Any fixes for that?

ive had my 3 for a year now and i've always noticed this difference between mine and my fiance's card. she has the 3i sport and i have the 3i touring value that came with the MP3 stereo. i just thought it was a difference in head units. i guess i was wrong. good thing i work with the main serv depts wife and i know him pretty well so i shouldnt have any issue getting it work on :) thanks for point this out guys

Just had my HU replaced by the dealer on my 08. They didn't tell me anything about a TSB but had seen this issue on several other 3s with Bose systems.

Mazda went with a new Clarion unit for 08.5-09. It can easily be identified by its Piano black exterior and MP3 tag. There was a TSB on early versions of the Clarion where the volume cut out at 32-35. Otherwise, any limitation you hear is most likely the Bose signal processor or speakers.

mine was fixed with the software update. i have an 08 itouring value. they were going to replace the unit if it didnt fix it but our dealer was well familiar with the issue. any of you fellow OK people should go over to Bob Moore mazda for the fix if you have the problem.

i have 4 preouts but i guess i didnt make this clear, i dont have a cd changer. just a head unit... and the subs are the only thing i have hooked up to a preout... help please?

I had my MS3 head unit replaced several months ago under warranty. Dealer said it isn't common but they have seen it several times in the Bose radios. No problems since.
