MPI got gear.

Well thats not to bad my turbo /wastgate pretty much oblterate all noises in my vicinity(thumb) , but i guess at low rpms it could be a little annoying...

oh man, how cool would that s*** be to have your ride making all that gear noise.... people would be like your ride is all jacked up, but to those that know, they'd be like Dude!!!!!!! hahaha! Anyway, i once read on someones thread that hardened gears were like $1000 a gear.. hence like $5 fat cabbage G's for this setup. Now I know i'm probably way off but hey, it's a number right, and when the price is less then this it will be a good deal.

Dahhh... I wish they wouldnt be so noisy. Not exactly daily driver material. The thing would sound like that damn M3 GTR vid around nurimburg... the tranny made more noise on the vid then the engine...

Also, I rev match sometimes when I'm downshifting but you would have to remember to that s*** all the time......pretty much a race car tranny for daily driving. I wonder how long it would last with daily abuse and forgetting to rev match all the time?

Helical would probably be the way to go. It's still stronger than the stock helical (or should be).

Now here's the real question: Can we get them in non-stock gear ratios?

Me, I'd definitely like a longer 1st gear, and a longer 5th as well.

Would a set of these new gears in Helical style offers a stronger tranny, while still being quiet?

Yea... and a set of 4.23 gears so we can do a buck-60+!!!

You think i'm kidding but i'm really not, i hate the fact our cars are geared so low.

talk about low gearing...try an S2000 or a honda prelude

yeah but they can out-rev us so that's probably the reasoning behind that one. More use of the lower gearing.

We won't really know until someone tries it, but theoretically, yes.

I wouldn't want to change all of my gears, like I said, just 1 and 5.

1 is WAY too short, and 5 is fine for power, but usually if I'm in 5, I'm cruising on the highway (at 4000 rpm :( )

yea..driiving from NJ to SC was 13 hours of 80 miles an hour at 4000 rpm..that s*** sucked for gas mileage

ooohhhhhh beautiful

i would probably just have the final gear changed ... make everything longer by a few mph. probably wouldnt affect accelleration that much and let every gear go a bit faster

^^ very true. 1 and 5 need the change the most.

I dont think 1st and 5th gear should be changed.

On the contrary, For turbo apps we get the most out of 3rd and 4th gear. Think about it, once you go into the 400whp you will end the 1/4mile in 5th gear with stock ratio.

I would also change 5th gear.

But this is just me. (outie)

wouldn't you want to change first gear on a turbo car such as ours? that would help with traction correct?

I'm subscribing, but it doesn't look like these will be available before I have to put my tranny back in the car. I'm putting the MSP LSD in next week and I thought having another gear set to throw in there as well would be the hottness. Oh well...I'm putting my vote in for a set of straight cut gears anyway.

You guys are nuts even thinking about straight cut gears. I suggest riding in a vehicle with straight cut gears before even thinking about it. You CANNOT drive it on the street, it is much louder than any exhaust I have heard that passes as street legal. On top of that, you would need ear muffs all the time.

i agree with blkzoomzoom on this .... my exhaust is kinda loud and i usually back up pretty fast and can hear the gear noise over the exhaust noise and i would NEVER be able to drive with that

i also like to turn off the music and just listen to the car sometimes. this would sound like if you have a noisy supercharger sitting in the passenger seat lol
