2003 mazdaspeed protege
my mazdaspeed has had 2 owners before me the last owner i guess put a motor in it and was into it not really knowing what they were doing because i threw a rod in the second motor and there was missing parts im curious if my protege is just a fluke and one bad egg or if there are problems with the engines holding together?

buddy these cars are crapoloa. i hate mine its nothing but problems i still owe 12k ive owned the car since june 07 and im on my second motor. bone stock never modded and well taken care of under 60k too :\

As far as you swapping in another motor well thats not worth your time or money, as this is so far uncharted territory and there is a lot more to worry about than motor mounts..

These are problems that can arise when buying a used turbo car. If you went into this car knowing that its engine had been replaced then that was a mistake. Things should not be missing from an engine...

My MSP has 67k miles on it, runs perfect and barely burns any oil. They arent all s***, its all in how you treat them or how they've been treated by previous owners...

You gotta know what you are buying....I would never buy a car from someone who has rebuilt the engine or had to have another one put in. You should have tried to find one in better shape. These cars do have their problems so if you are not into modding cars then get something else. I bought this car because I planned on buying better quality parts as the ones on the car break down. With that and modding it with performance parts I have had no problem keeping the rods in place and I am approaching 82,000 miles. so they arent all crap.

Just get a used motor and call it a day for now. Get the motor from a junkyard from a p5 or see if Protegegarage may hook u up with a new or built or used motor. You'll be much happier.

I have no complaints from my MSP it has always ran good and quite fast with only bolt on parts and a few more perfromance upgrades. And if it wasn't, it was because I did something to it. This car was well worth the money in every category for me, and best of all it's paid off in May!

stock motor stock trans. and LsD, Only changed spark plugs 1 time.

i am also the third owner of a msp, the only reason i bought it is because i knew most of the problems that can arise with these cars. also if any motor in that fact is missing parts it will have problems in some piont of its life!
i have problems with mine but i am happy with it, but i am also in the market to modify alot.

if you want to mod the car and you have the money, it is well worth it. these cars can be very reliable as long as it is treated with TLC and you let it loose every once in awhile!

the car now has a new motor from mazda 9800 dollars worth thankfully covered by extended warranty service with some help from the dealership i worked at as for the problems before i carfaxed it and it showed nothing so carfax doesent always work and now the car is babied oil changes every 3000 miles with royal purple and a mobile 1 oil filter

carfax isnt made for people who blow their motors...its made for people who get in accidents...

Same Here

My motor cracked a wristpin in half and pushed a rod through the block, took out my starter and soaked my clutch in oil. Only 33k miles. Luckily I had good records and it wasn't oil starvation. Still took mazda 10days to determine they'd warranty it! Thank god I had the extended warranty. Over $10,000 in repairs. It's still in the shop.
