Haha, well I don't talk to many people like that but Phen and I are room mates so we bicker a lot but don't take anything to heart. Haha

Someone has to. Everyone else agrees with you all the time. What fun is that???

Now back to our regularly scheduled program and thread....my Bullshiggity quote for the day!

A while back I read in Grassroots about cats removing their brake dust shields to allow the brakes to get more air. It makes sense. What's the pros and cons to having brake dust shields? I was thinking about popping mine off since it's not my DD.

My everything down there gets so hot. I accidently touched my rotor one day and melted off my fingerprint. I can feel the heat flying our around my wheels

Correct, Grand Am GT cars don't have dust shields on their brakes, but they also have duct upon duct upon duct, and higher velocity air to keep them cool as well. Benefit... heat transfer COULD be improved. Drawback... getting brake dust all over your suspension bits. That s*** will eat thru any painted surface and / or etch itself into metal if it sits on anything for too long. Gonna have to make sure everything underneath stays clean. Brake dust in the suspension bushings can chew up the bushings as well as the metal bits.

But I mean, that's the same brake dust on the wheels and tires that easily washes off. You know I wash my car once a week anyway. But I'll leave them on for the time being.

Indeed it is. You do wash your car as often as you drive it more than 10 miles, so that won't be a problem. More aggressive pad dust is harder to wash off than normal DD pads. I miss my Hawk HPS' for that reason. The HP+ dust can be a pain to wash off.

try that with white wheels

just get some of these

You guys should try Armor-All wheel protectant. Just spray it on and let it dry. Brake dust and stuff just wipes right off.

Peaches, I'm going to make some brake ducts eventually.

And before the flood gates open with "Wah, you're such a poser, it's not a race car, wah." Like I said, I like building cars just as much as driving them. Overkill? Yes. Fun? Yes. :)

Evan I would love brake ducts too...I can tell u the 99-00 or even 01-03 with rear disc suffer from really quickly fading front brakes when your not nice to them. I have found that out on both of my road trips in the last year. Thank god for down shifting

Trying using scrubbing bubbles on you your wheels, if it can clean a toilet and sink, they can clean wheels too! We have tried it with much success!

I use this for cleaning my wheels...works great and if you hit the sales right at AZ, you can pick them up 2 for $5 or BOGO.
