Header for the SP20

I did straighten the gasket, but it has a crease. Also some parts of the gasket is torn, so i don't think i will be using that gasket. Looks like I have to use the stock one.

Anyway, thanks for your quick replies guys.

ne idea y its takin soooooooo long??Cause I'm really tempted 2 install the header.

No idea mate, we havent been updated with any info.
i reckon u should try and do it urself. Shouldnt be that hard.

yeah i don't mind if you wanna do it yourself first, just make sure u tell us any problems that you come across :) btw do you have a breaker bar to loosen those tight bolts?

hey guys, i got the header installed!!!! damn dat was hard! the spring screws were the biggest b**** to put back in. took me around an hour with help with some of my mates.

Also there is a bracket that holds onto the stock header that wasn't mentioned in the how to section. that took a while to manoeuver the stock header out of the engine bay.

Another problem that i faced was that one of the screws that bolt the header to the engine block broke, cause I forced it a bit. So yeah now I'm missing one out of the 8 possible screws.

Besides all this ordeal, everything went well. Now my car feels more responsive!!

yeah i had problems with the springloaded bolts...those were a b**** to get off, same with that wire gasket off the exsisting manifold...i think it was in the how-to but, im pretty sure there are 2 how-to's for a header instal

as for the bolts i used antiseive or whatever its called...the whole ordeal probably took me a good 2 hours, first hour geting that heavy ars manifold off and and the last hour to get the new one on.

So syd_speed what kind of header did you get? did you feel any gains?

I got a stainless steel OBX header. Yeah it felt like there were gains. but a dyno run here in Sydney will cost around $130. So i'll wait for others to dyno my car, maybe we can get a discount.

glad you've got it on syd_speed!

yeah those spring bolts are a pain, but eventually they work.

and did you notice how much lighter the new header is! my AWR is 6kg compaired to 12.5kg for the stock!

anyway, i dont think there will be too much of an issue with a broken bolt. you can remove it (as they are screwed in place and not a perm fixture), but i wouldnt worry about it unless you hear/see exhaust leaks or if you are just plain worried about it.

and $130 for a dyno pull! damn! in bris it's $50-$70. $50 for me coz i know the guys at mercury motorsport

8 weeks on... and i still don't know whether my headers been shipped or not!
syd_speed, so is there a trick to putting the spring bolts back on? and any tips on how not to break a bolt on the engine? i've read about others doing the same and the bolts seem quite easy to break.
and i'll be in for a dyno run if its cheaper... whereabouts is it?

the only thing i have never recd was a $20 book from amazon.com, never anything car related. things have come later than expected plenty of times, but never not received

anti-seize or however you spell it...you should use that on the bolts that bolt up from the engine to the header, whenever you take out a bolt, and put it back in heat would heat that bolt up and it would eventually crack. something like that. but the anti-seize wouldnt make it.
