getting closer (carputer setup)

i know man, im so glad the touchscreen i have now is on the market. much to ELEmental's dismay p), ive seriously been waiting for a product like it for a long time. back in the day, everything was REALLY REALLY EXPENSIVE. i had a 6.4in LCD i salvaged, but do you know how hard it is to find a 6.4 touchscreen overlay. and it was nearly impossible to find a fairly priced smaller LCD. everything is like 10 or 12 inches. which is way too damn big. ive seriously been waiting a couple years to finally put this into action.

Is your processor a celeron? If not, I think it would be hard to keep it cool.

Well good that means you've done the research on it and when it's all done we can go ahead and do one in my car, by that time you'll have all the bugs worked out and know how to mold it into the center dash trim

i used to have a Celeron 533MHz in there but i wanted more power.

with some better/more fans, and proper placements of components im hoping heat wont be an issue. of course inside a plastic glovebox, things are different, but under the seat, with an intake and ehxaust fan, im pretty sure i can have a stable system, but we shall see.

well mine and elementals are mounted under the seat and if it does get to hot. . . there is always the perfectly placed A/C vent that is right there that you could use to blow cold air on when needed

i originally wanted to put my stuff in teh glove box but now all that is goin to go there is my EQ (if i never move it to under the ash tray) and the dvd drive and mold it in there

oh yeah, my A/V selector is going in the glovebox (switch bewteen PC or XBOX)

oh yeah, i own one so i should shut up. i still like my ps2 and gamecube and dreamcast and n64 and gameboy adv SP better though.

bryan, you may have changed my mind on the whole carputer thing....used to think it was ghey but now i am...ah...intrigued per se. we must converse, yes converse.

xbox and ps2 are good systems. gamecube is silly and the only thing thats gonna be good for it is MGS: Twin Snakes. thats it.

ive been thinking about this as well...i have a bunch of computer parts around, im going to try to see what i will need...
a couple things...how long does it take to start up the computer? i was worried it would take a few minutes and not turn on right away like a radio would...hmm...i can't remember what else...

dex. . .why do you need an a/v selector. . the dscustoms screen already has it on the lcd bezel. . . .and you have 2 composite inputs to teh screen in addition to the vga

correct. its not for the screen, its for the AUX to the kenwood so i can either have PC audio or the audio from the xbox

well for me. . when i boot from hibernation i can be up and playing music in 20 sec. . .leaving off from where i left the song last since it is hibernation

LOL this hard drive is such a POS. glad i found this out before putting into action. i just smacked it around, threw it onto my bed, and then tried it again and it works. haha

I downloaded it a long ass time ago but I cant remember what it was called

he if we all got car-puters and wireless network cards we could have a lan party every time where at a meet, other people can talk, we can play Counter Strike and Mechwarrior 4
