ftfy!

Washed the car today and had a bunch of "rail dust" mostly on the back of the car and the front doors. I clayed the most heavily affected areas. I can't wait until spring so that I can do a full detail. I need to find a good sealant to protect the paint better. I think I'm going to be doing a bit of research and making sure I do my best to keep the paint looking good. Anyway, pictures tell it better

And just for fun, I threw some mad camber on when I was rotating the tires a couple of weeks ago.

For a Paint Sealant, I use Meguiars #21 Syntetic Sealant 2.0 after a good cleaning.

Goes on real easy and wipes off with little effort.

For winter I follow up with a coat of Collinite Super DoubleCoat Auto Wax #476. This stuff just keeps beading water and that's why they call it “The Permanent Auto Wax”. The stuff is a paste and takes some getting used to for application by hand. Always remember, less is more with waxing and you will be OK.

This combination works well for me and gets me through the winter until I can do a full detail. Hope this helps.

I appreciate the input. I think I'll be getting some of that and going to town. I foresee a full day of washing, claying, waxing and sealing.

When Steph worked at a detail shop, they got all their supplies from a professional detailing store. It's down in Canton if you ever want to check it out and see what they have to suggest!

I used some compounds and spray waxes and was definitely impressed.

I used to use my random orbit all the time until I got sick of screwing with the extension cord... and loosing my bonnets. One of these days, I'll use it again.

Good luck keeping those wheels clean, lol I got the oem wheels off my 04 mz3 powder coated mirror white and I am using those as winter wheels. They are consistantly an ugly shade of gray, lol but no lie, those wheels are pure sexy. I wanted to keep my gen2 wheels and paint them to look like the rx-8 r3 wheels but i just couldn't swing having 3 sets of wheels. lol

Lol thanks. I should have learned my lesson with my white wheels on the P5. Oh well. I am going to be buying a daily driver soon so hopefully it'll be a hell of a lot easier to keep clean.

What brake pads are you on, Ivan? The Hawk HPS don't really give off much brake dust and I kept Pablo's old GramLites clean.

But you see... you didn't have to try to handle the flat-out of the MS3. He shall be using the brakes more than you did to control the beast. The wheels shall get dirty.

that is a very very inaccurate statement haha... well atleast in my case with slotted rotors, those bitcheses cover my wheels in brake dust! haha

i have heard with blank rotors that the dusting isnt that bad but i cant confirm that

Not really an inaccurate statement on my behalf. Maybe I should clarify;

With my slow-ass P5, I had Brembo blank rotors and Hawk HPS pads for 3 years and brake dust wasn't an issue with my silver Enkeis and the white GramLites. I also ran black ASA's so I can't comment on the amount of brake dust due to the color.

Peaches ran Hawk HP+ on the GramLites and they had tons of brake dust. Phen, how much brake dust did youget with your HP+, white wheels and slotted rotors?

im pretty positive my mass amount of dust is more cause of the slotted rotors than the pads. like i said i had heard with blanks that the dusting wasnt bad
