Fishdonotbounce's 2008.5 CWP Speed3 GT "Build" Thread

I also forgot to mention that I can't believe these are +47 offset. I think that the fit is absolutely perfect. Can't wait to get some tires on there.

I like the shift knob and the rim choice. Your about as bad as me with rims. I have had 3 different sets and have painted 2 of those sets another color after having them for a while. I want your 2nd gens bad, just don't know if I'll have the money in time before someone else nabs them.

Yea it's kind of a sickness. Cara is going to kill me one of these days because of my love for cars.

wheels look nice but my (2cents) would be to get the wheels painted to color match the car... something to me just looks a bit off when you have such a deep/vibrant white like CWP and the lackluster plain white wheel on it... but again thats just (2cents)

I thought about that. I don't think I need to color match them yet. After the test fit, it seems like they will look just fine.

I was going to do 235/40 but I think I'll have to go with 225/40. There's over a hundred dollar price difference between the two for the same tires.

I will be going with 225. I'm not looking for crazy performance out of these. I need high treadwear rating since I drive 40-45k miles a year. 225/40 Kuhmo Ecsta LX Platinum looks to be a great candidate. It looks to have better cornering grip than the Ecsta 4X and a very high treadwear rating.

Are you going to go with an all-season for sure? Why not go with a summer tire but not a max performance summer like the Hankook V12 or Continental ExtremeContact DW?

If you so want an all-season, my fiancee has the ExtremeContact DWS and they are quite a nice tire I was very pleasantly surprised by their performance in both rain and snow.

I'm going with the all seasons purely for tread life. Comparing the cornering grip on the LX's with the Ecsta SPT, it is only .03 less but the treadwear rating is 600 compared to 320.

How do you drive so damn much. And remember tread wear indicators are not a static measurement. They have difderent scales from brand ti brand.

90 miles a day. My work is 45 miles away. I'm definitely not comparing the ratings brand to brand. I'm comparing within brands like I did with the LX and SPT. The LX is around 460 for 4 tires and has everything I need. It's kind of a no brainer.

i agree they will look good, i didnt mean that the plain white doesnt look good on the cwp cause it does, i just meant i think color matching would make the wheels look even better if they matched

keep in mind that you went from a 17x7 +50 to an 18x8 +47 so just that change alone will bump the wheels out ~9mm than they rays and that kind of difference is def noticeable

yeah id say thats a solid no-brainer decision with that kind of commute, i didnt realize you drove that far

Yea I knew what you meant. I hate the forums sometimes when it comes to typing things. Sometimes it seems that I'm saying things more harshly than I actually am lol.

Stretch some 195's.

I was surprised how much farther out my FD's sat even with a 50 offset, simply because of the fact that they're an inch wider that the 6's. I'd never had 'wide' wheels before! :D

I'm running my MS6 wheels on the Conti ExtremeContat DWS and they are a great tire with a much better tread wear rating than summer tires. Being all seasons, they are not summer performance tires but should be good for you since you have a fare commute everyday.

As for the above pics, just photoshop some rubber onto the rims to keep you happy until spring. (thought)

Washed the car today while it was above freezing. The water in the hose was still frozen so Phen and I poured a few buckets of hot water over it and it melted it all away. The car was sooooooo filthy. The pictures don't even show how dirty it was. Now it's supa shiny!!

i think the pictures do a pretty good job lol.

and damn that clean must have taken hours! lol

Lol not really. I took the dirty pictures at 5:04. The clean pictures were taken at 5:51. The time in between accounts for unfreezing the hose, washing and cleaning up. It just gets dark so ******* early these days.

It's all about taking care of the car regularly and claying and waxing as late in the fall as you can. I wash the car at least once a week whether it's by hand or touchless car wash. It keeps stuff from sticking. I learned it the hard way on the P5. I had no idea what products to use, never had time because of school, and the list goes on. Washing the car with bad products and not very often led to me struggling to bring the paint back late in its life. I am taking no chances with this car. I know I'm not doing a perfect job and I'm not a professional detailer by any means but I try to really take care of the paint and keep the car looking good.
