Evo gets *****!!

you're a late nighter like me...lol:D

haha no sir..thats no s***..thats a beat down..i wonder what he has for mods..we know he has an exhaust..what..who knows..but good lord..he wooped his ass..and how could you say not driving to the max? they did a rolling start..how complicated is it to floor it? besides..there isnt that big of a performance (in a straight line) difference between the 2 stock...so with a few mods done to the SRT..it shouldn't come as a suprise..

that srt musta had either the stage 1 or stage 2 chip... i have a couple friends with srt's and all they need to take EVO's or anything else are the chips...

The stage upgrades are not chips.

Stage 1 is out and is a totally different PCM and bigger fuel injectors.

Stage 2 will not be out until December. And it isn't a chip either.

You tell em Quick. Guys, dont discount the SRT-4. I have driven them, and actually was just offered to get one at a DEEP discount. :D by DCX. I wont though. Anyways, they are quick as rabbits *******. Guys, the SRT-4 is not to be played with, they WILL eat Evo's and STI's with "proper" tuning. trust me. (upyours)

Also, the Evo is fast, but those times u read about in magazines are NOT rolling starts... they have to rev the hell out of it and beat the crap out of the clutch to get it to launch with some wheelspin. They even say during the testing that you will not duplicate these numbers if you are making the car payment, its just too hard on the car. Car and Driver does a rolling start acceleration test, 5-60. Its supposed to be a better representation of what the car will do in the real world. I tried to get the numbers but they are not listed online and I dont have the magazine in front of me, but if I remember correctly, the 0-60 with the clutch-frying launch was like 5.1 sec, and the 5-60 street start with no clutch frying was over 7 sec, like 7.1 or 7.3.

With 19psi and all wheel drive, without the boost up, the acceleration is going to be slow until it picks up. That is enough to give the SRT-4 the edge it needed.

total :bs:

A modded SRT wouldn't even walk away from an MSP that bad. I don't think the EVO guy even hits the throttle for those roll-ons...if he does it was after he waited for a few secs. There's about a 60hp difference in HP in those cars stock so even if the SRT is modded to 300hp it's only 25hp up on a stock EVO and wouldn't walk away from it that bad. No doubt the SRT's are fast but not in the same class as the EVO with the AWD.....a slightly modded EVO can pull down 325hp like nothing......then the corners...well, we know the EVO owns just about everything in the corners.

You are right, the HP is just not that big of a difference, and you are also right about the corners... EVO rules. Hell, IMO, the Evo is just awesome no matter what, I dont care if its NOT the fastest, I just have this thing for all-wheel-drive rally cars... someday I WILL get one...

But, I have to stick to my guns on this one... the weight and all-wheel-drive of the Evo suck up low end power and make it not a good drag car. On a rolling start, and even a standing start... if you dont clutch and build up revs and boost before dropping to get a little wheelspin, the car is not going to be very fast. Car and Driver said they were dropping at like 5000rpm to get the car to hook up and to get the best times. You can see that the Evo driver in the video is NOT doing that, either on the roll or from a start. So hes bogging, and bogging in the AWD car makes it all that much slower to catch up. The SRT-4, with just FWD doesnt have that problem.

I am not saying the SRT-4 is faster... with GOOD drivers and the right technique, IMO the EVO will always spank the SRT. But, with the wrong launch, and obviously not a good driver, the Evo CAN lose... any car can lose. I just realized, this is exactly the same argument from the thread yesterday about the WS6 vs. MSP!!!!

DooD, you need to do some homework. The SRT-4 is UNDERATED for Crank HORSEPOWER. It puts more hp to the wheels, then rated at the crank. STOCK. A stage 2 srt-4 is rated at 270 hp AT THE CRANK. so I would say its 300 whp. an evo is 275 AT THE CRANK. 25% power loss for being an AWD and your at 207 at the wheels.

I lost to an evo by 3/10th of a second at the strips 2 mopnths ago. I was running 10 lbs of boost ONLY, and was not beat by much.

I am really getting sick of everyone knocking every car out there. Give them thier credit its due, and KNOW WHAT THE **** YOUR TALKING ABOUT. (upyours) :D

I'm going off published HP numbers so I do know what the **** I'm talking about....I didn't pick those #'s out of the sky......whatever people say is "underrated" or "overrated" is a matter of different dyno's in different coniditions....I'm just going by what is in print. BTW if a Stage 2 SRT is 270 at the crank then the wheel HP wouldn't be 300....it would be much less. Besides all that, I agree that it's all technique as stated above......if that guy in the EVO had even half a clue how to drive, even a heavily modded Peon wouldn't walk away so easily. 99% of people who buy cars don't have a clue about shift points, revs, power bands, etc. and judging by the fact that the guy had to be bribed with gas $ to roll, he's probably another dumbass 20 something whou bought something he can't afford.....or drive good. Car and Driver (or was it Road and Track) just did a comparo pitting the EVO against a new 911 Turbo and they were dead nuts. The guy in that vid was definitely a bog-master.

No need to argue here, boost, pass me that hook up you have for the donge, Hell I'll get it for the right price!
then I will race evos. After a little help from Joe P of coarse. :D

Either way you see it there, the dodge won. So what? Could it be a bad driver, yes, or evena mechanical problem with the evo. However just hit th local track for a street night and I am sure you will see each car. talk to the owners, compare times and have a nice night at the track. Then go home, drink a beer and hopefully get a knob job.

Well I just planed out my Friday, what are you guys up to?
(rofl)

AWD drivetrain, you lose more hp and torque, think about it, the engine gotta turn 4 wheels now instead of 2. Plus they got that vicious center clutch, that's just like an automatic transmission clutch and we all agree on the effectiveness of that. EVO isn't invincible. It's still a 2L with a turbo and that car is just like MSP no meat b4 boost. SRT4 got 2.4 => more displacement => more tq lowend. Rolling start with decent traction, SRT4 should have an edge. Weight wise EVO 3263 lbs & SRT4 2970. If EVO is stock and SRT4 is modded a good chance the SRT4 has a good shot of beating EVO.

just wait until quiksrt4 see's it! flame on!

Ha ha...I scrolled right over this...

Nah, I'll just let you Mazda guys fight this one out. I understand obviously this kid doesn't know how to drive. Just listening to how mean that SRT sounds is good enough for me.

Now I wanna see the guy who claimed to beat an SRT in a MSP make a video of racing one...;)

the evo is made to handle...not for the 1/4. put the srt4 and the evo on a road course...then see who get's their ass kicked.

I know the Evo would kill the SRT-4 in the twisties. Point is...the video is of them in a straight line...so the better suspension argument is of no importance here.

That sucked, we got a clean, clear and grand view under the hood of the STOCK Evo that we can see for ourselves at the dealership.... but we didn't get a peek at the SRT4 goodies that was "slightly modded"..... (uhm)

Therefore, any car can be modded to have 500 hp..... woopee doo doo that the SRT4 spanked this Evo.... (cheers)
