You are right, the HP is just not that big of a difference, and you are also right about the corners... EVO rules. Hell, IMO, the Evo is just awesome no matter what, I dont care if its NOT the fastest, I just have this thing for all-wheel-drive rally cars... someday I WILL get one...
But, I have to stick to my guns on this one... the weight and all-wheel-drive of the Evo suck up low end power and make it not a good drag car. On a rolling start, and even a standing start... if you dont clutch and build up revs and boost before dropping to get a little wheelspin, the car is not going to be very fast. Car and Driver said they were dropping at like 5000rpm to get the car to hook up and to get the best times. You can see that the Evo driver in the video is NOT doing that, either on the roll or from a start. So hes bogging, and bogging in the AWD car makes it all that much slower to catch up. The SRT-4, with just FWD doesnt have that problem.
I am not saying the SRT-4 is faster... with GOOD drivers and the right technique, IMO the EVO will always spank the SRT. But, with the wrong launch, and obviously not a good driver, the Evo CAN lose... any car can lose. I just realized, this is exactly the same argument from the thread yesterday about the WS6 vs. MSP!!!!
