Ignition or key issue and steering wheel gets locked (2019 CX-5)

I've been having this issue when trying to start my CX5 2019. The problem is quite intermittent, I had the same troubles last year, but I didn't have the chance to take my car to the mechanics, then the problem went away by itself for about 7-8 months and now it's back. Nothing has changed since then. I've changed the battery of both my key fobs. I've tested the car battery, it seems fine. The behaviour is the following, when I try to start, it starts clicking for a few seconds and then it beeps a few times and shows 'Steering locked' on the dashboard. Sometimes, the car locks itself while I'm the car, it behaves a lot like it's not recognising the key.

I made a video to show the problem

I think your car is in the anti-theft mode.

Thank you for sharing this screenshot. I have tried with a door open as well as tried to lock the car and unlock it again, but with no success. It's a very weird and annoying issue. Any chance you can point me to where you got the screenshot from?

In a few places, I was advised to try changing the car battery, so I will give that a go and will update you to share if I have any luck.

I found this link online at mazdausa.com. Try and do what it says in the manual, see if it works. "Request switch on the doors" refers to the button on the door, the button used to lock/unlock the car.
2019 CX-5 Owner manual page 141 if you use Adobe to open the PDF. At page 140 the "Theft-deterrent system" is explained and by looking at your screen, your red flash on the dashboard it's called in this manual "security indicator light".

Just an update for anyone who comes across this: I decided to try replacing the battery. To determine which battery I needed, I ended up disconnecting the current one. While it was disconnected, I pressed the brake pedal and held it for 5-10 seconds (this helps use up any remaining electricity in the system and essentially restarts the electronics, as I read in several sources). I then reconnected the battery, and everything has been fine so far. I haven't purchased a new battery yet, and it has been working okay for over a month now (hopefully I won't jinx it by sharing all this :D).

It is the same as disconnecting the (-) terminal and wait for 20-30 mins and put it back.
Your way is faster.
