Dyno #s with & without cp-e cat-back?

Anyone dynoed their MS6 before installing their cp-e cat-back & then after only adding the cp-e cat-back?

Let's see the numbers!

I do, but apparently they're "biased" (sssh)

:D

These dyno runs were performed on a stock SPEED6, and there was no "trickery" performed on either run, before or after. I'll post ours up here, and hopefully someone else will post their own dyno numbers. But for whatever its worth, these numbers are accurate. If you look at your stock exhaust next to ours, the unusually generous power gain may make more sense.

+21hp/+31tq - Impressive.

Question - how did the exhaust eliminate the dip between 3100-3300rpm, and the dip between 4400-4600rpm?

Im kinda just curious right now. I have an injen cai, ets 3.25"tmic, cpe turboback w/cat and both mufflers, cpe ems, and the su bov. I took my car in to have it dyno'd and tuned at a local shop with a dyno dynamics dyno and my cars baseline with all of thos mods was 233whp and 260torque. Is it just me or does that seem extraordinarily low? With some minor tuning he got up to 240hp and 265 torque and im bringing it in again next week for some more tuning but I would say its a large understatement that I am extremely disappointed. What happened to 260 hp and 280 torque with just the cai?

Dude, that dyno is effed. With the mods you've got you're going to be pushing really good numbers. It doesn't really matter about the dyno numbers as, it has been said before, they're subjective. Get on the track and get some times. My next move is the TBE and then I'm done for a while. I've got the CPE CAI, FMIC, Standback, and the HKS BOV. Stock with the Standback I put down 291 ft-lbs and 240 hp.

From what I can gather, everyone's dyno experience will be different. So different, that certain dynos are known to read 'higher' than others, and thus will provide the bragging rights, while others read 'true'.

Either way, dynos are supposed to be used as baselines, for before and after mods.

It was definitely a rude awakening when I saw the initial results because I was thinking I would put down about 300 hp after the tune.

CPEs numbers are on a DynoJet Dyno and you did a dyno run on a Dyno Dynamics dyno. You will see a HUGE difference in numbers on those two types of dynos because of the technology that they use to measure HP and Torque.

The Dyno Dynamics is probably the most "accurate" dyno out there, but usually has the lowest numbers. If you want to brag about a big dyno number go with a dynojet, if you want something truly accurate run on a Dyno Dynamics.

There is usually a 15-20% difference between what a dyno dynamics will read and what a dynojet will read.

And Dyno numbers without a baseline from your car on that same dyno, same conditions/settings aren't going to be very valuable to you as you aren't measuring gains.

Case in point... When I had my fully built, disco potatoed and haltech e6-x Mazdaspeed Protege we did tuning at 14psi on 91 octane that would be a safe conservative tune to run 14psi everyday. We got 208 whp on a Dyno Dynamics dyno. Not very impressive eh? I took that car to a Dynojet and under the same conditions put down a run of 255ish whp without any other changes. (I can't recall the exact amount right now)
