Clear Rims!?!?!

i could do the same thing with 4 jackstands :)

Hahahaha- good one! :)

Why would anyone want to do this? Then again, I don't understand the people who cut 3" off their stock spring so they can bounce down the road and fear for their lives 'cause of pot holes. But they do it. I guess there's a market for everything.

sick, someone with a protege shoudl get them! haha i personally wouldn't get them though. I'll stick to my mazdaspeed rims. anyways, someone might want to be unique and stand out.
Why so we could see our rusty ass msp rotors?

if it is that military grade alumina... then it sounds like the lip would get seriously screwed b4 the clear plate saw any damage. Aluminum is light as hell. Sounds good in theory. We'll see.

As for looks. I'm undecided. Different none the less.

Let's see, the formula for area is pi*[(radius) squared], if they're 18" rims that's 3.1415926*9*9, or about 255 square inches per wheel. Multiply that by the $15/square inch manufacturing cost and we're at $3817.03 for just the center of ONE wheel, before machining. 4 wheels per car means $ 15,268.14... for the centers only, not machined! (save 50% by doing only two, if you're only interested in impressing half the people) Sounds cost-prohibitive for Tron wheels, though the look is unique and post-modern... have to admit the guy's got some good/personal taste in cars, no Tauruses in his driveway!

Oh - forgot to say - that's for the clear alumina, not plexi or Lexan which would be considerably cheaper and quite a bit less sturdy.

Funny see-saw...

If they are that expensive he better have locking lug-nutz...

next they'll prob make clear hoods and clear bodykits.... then they could be tinted to match our windows... (loser)

imagine how much windex you would have to use... then take the rimz off to get the other side clean... (deadhorse

Think how rice it would look if you put a neon behind your wheels...

I know... a blacklight and day-glow rotors/calipers!! (boom07) (rice)

Wouldn't suprise me. The first time these pop up are some persons driveway? They would have been all over the SEMA roundup type shows, right next to the dimanuiqe crusted 26's.

There's a guy in Vancouver with a G2 Integra that has a clear hood with blue lighting around the perimeter. Those wheels had to be customized, and they can't be good on the street. It wouldn't take much to warp the wheel, and I wouldn't think they would be safe at high speeds. Looks funny too.
