CX-5 Keyless System Malfunction won't clear

Purchased a 2023 CX-5 with only 1 fob. Local locksmith said he could make a new one but it only had 3 buttons. The Keyless System Malfunction error was on and he said it would go away after driving a few miles. It did, but came back the next time in the vehicle and now won't go away. I've tried disconnecting the battery for an extended period (2 hours) and disconnecting the battery and holding the battery leads together for 5 minutes (allegedly to clear capacitors.) He did.give us a 4 button remote that does everything except work the exterior door lock/unlock, but we still have the error. Any other suggestions for.clearing it?
