I just got back from a little drive. My car only has 400 miles on it and while I was driving my CEL came on. I don't know why? I was going like 30 in 4th gear and it just came on. I am going to call my dealer tomorrow but I just wanted to see if anyone had any advice or if it has happened to anyone else.

Did you just fill up on gas?
After you have let the car sit is the light still on? Some dealers will charge for the Diagnostic unless they find something wrong. If the code doesn't show anything then they charge about $80 bucks. b**** to them to no end if they do this...

If you want go to a Autozone (not sure if you have one) and they will read the codes for free.

Could just be a sensor that has come loose or wire etc during your break in period. Not all CEL lights mean something drastic, and hopefully that is the case here.

Actually since you only have 400 miles take it to the dealer they better cover any cost being it is still in the break in period.

Actually I just filled up with gas yesterday. If it is bad gas what would be the damages, if any?

J/K. man that sux!!! def. call the dealer ASAP! let us know the cause... prob just a bad cat. once i had a frequent cel problem in a brand new chevy 1500 and it turned out to be something simple, my gas cap would not seal properly causing a pressure problem in the tank... well at least thats what the dealer told me... sounded a lil fishy to me though. anyways, good luck.

Now that u mention that, I remember one of my moms cars having the same thing where the gas cap wouldn't seal. I hope its something simple like that.

Doesn't seem like it will be anything serious, as mention probably just something not seating right or has come loose.

Bad gas *could* through a light but normally it doesn't, I just used that as a example that happens on other cars. Haven't noticed yet on these cars ECU's.

O, I forgot to mention that for the first time I noticed a screeching noise that sounded like it was coming from the turbo. I hope this isnt connected with the CEL coming on.

that could be nothing serious (like a bad blet, that would not cause the CEL), or it could be something else that is fatal to the car. in any case, dont wory to much, it is still under warranty and they will fix ya right up (that is unless it is a KENWOOD problem, in that case u will be on a 30 day min. wait for part delivery...)

I went to the dealership today and it was a running to rich code. But they kept my car and said they were gonna call Mazdaspeed and consult with them and try to do something about it. My service guy was real cool about everything tho, except that I couldn't get a rental car cuz im only 17. So now im stuck with my moms Mazda 626 again...what fun. But at least its a Mazda. I should be picking up my car either thursday or firday so I'll let u guys know what they say about it.

Running rich code!!! Now maybe Mazda will realize it's time to lean the mixture out. Let us know how they intend to fix the problem. I would continue to buy gas exactly where you bought it from last time. Do not let them just reset the ecu. have them tell you what they did and let us know.
