car noises, i need help

when I start the car, after a while it starts to make a rattle noise or some type of noise (hard to describe it). But it does it for a couple of seconds and then stops and it will start back up again from time to time. This noise only happens when I'm in "park". When I'm in "reverse" or "drive" the noise goes away. I have an automatic btw. Anyways, I think, not sure, the noise is coming from the transmission.

Does anyone know what the noise could be?

if there is decent vibration in the steering and front end then it might be your tranny. but not during park.. u would have shifting problems too...

maybe your exhaust....i know my moms van does it, but I'm too lazy to change the exhaust hanger for her...lol, i have to do all the maintenence for her cause she's lazier than me...prolly the exhaust, or just a rough idle, I know mine does it sometimes...it could just be your fan turning on and off

definitely not interior parts rattling....
i think i may know what u are talkin about.....cept mine happens when im in drive sometimes...if it is what im thinking, then its definatly not the exhaust or fan...it is really hard to describe...hmm....i wanna say it seems like its coming from the passenger side more...at first i thought it was my dash or something rattling, then i realized it wasnt coming from inside the car

then there is also the ticking sound...theres another thread on that, lol, and my car also smells like its burning, but thats a whole other issue

one possibility is that if u have CAI, the idle thing is hitting on the tube... whats that thing called.. anyone wanna help m out?.. i know what u mean.. ppl with cai know this... close to the driver side is a round metal which usually puncture the tube.. maybe its hitting that...
