Bent Strut

Hey,
So, when I took my car into the mechanic, and he said my left front wheel wasn't sitting right. He said that the strut was bent? How does a strut actually get "bent"? The alignment wasn't off though.

somehow I doubt that if it aligns properly, your strut is bent. Plus, to bend the strut takes some pretty serious doing.

you would bust the seal on the valve before it bent IMO. it would leak oil everywhere.

Hey,
Yeah, the thing is that I was in car accident with my Protege, and the body shop noticed the bent strut, but the bent strut was on the side where there was no damage to the vehicle. My insurance doesn't think the bent strut was caused by the accident, and I know for sure that the wheels were in alignment.

Call me stupid, aMaff, but that did you mean when you said, "somehow I doubt that if it aligns properly, your strut is bent" ?

I seriously don't remember doing anything "damaging" - last time I took the car in (before the accident) the struts were ok.

And, I didn't see any fluids anywhere, BTW --

I meant that if it aligns, it's probably not bent.
