Apex Exhaust Questions...

Just got this exhaust a few days back and its "BARELY" louder than the stock mazdapseed one...i can hear it a lil bit when i downshift but thats about it...

If i get the Apex downpipe will it make the exhaust louder?

I have no first hand expierience but everyone says the downpipe makes the stock exhaust louder sooo......

it should... the downpipe gets rid of both your cats... so it should be louder for sure.

well since you have the cat back yes if you get the downpipe it will be louder. I have the catless 2.5" and custom piping, no resonators just the muffler and its pretty loud.

let me tell you first hand, the downpipe will make the exhaust note ALOT LOUDER... along with alot of backfiring

ok that sounds good. will it get louder also if i get the Apex downpipe with the high flow cat? Since it removes one cat.... or should i just say screw it and go catless?

Apex downpipe w/cat makes it a moderately louder with the stock cat back. don't know how it would be w/the apex cat back, but i would imagine even louder than your cat back is now. you wouldn't get the backfireing w/the downpipe w/cat.


01Se_to_03MSP, is your exhaust louder all the time (like at idle too) or only under load, at full throttle? there's a sound clip on the board of that exhaust set up, but you can't really hear it at idle very well. how does it sound at highway speed?

Louder does not necessarily mean more power

I personally would be happy with an exhaust that gives good gains but is not too loud.

I have the 3" DP no cats, and the 3" catback all from apex. It sounds good at idle, a good bit louder at mid throttle, and loud as all hell at full boost and throttle! but for the power gains, it was well worth it!!! I love my exhaust!
