Another turbo P5 thread...

what are we looking at... im sorry, its an extrator but how or what did u break?

That is the oil pressure sender port on the block. My brass tee broke off in there. So we tried to remove it with the extractor, which also broke. So that is the jagged thing you see sticking out.

maybe you could drill in out and flush it real well?

Pretty much what I plan on doing, except after I pull out the motor. That way I can take it to a shop and make sure it is done right.

I could'nt drill the broken tap I had even with the strongest drills. it sucked. def. pull the motor out. I just welded and then flushed the mototr with old motor oil. seems to have gotten all the gunk out.

Well almost all the wires are disconnected, just a couple left. I gotta disconnect the A/C (maybe I'll remove it, I dunno), heater hoses were being a pain, pull driveshafts, and unmount her.

I decided I'm going to just hard-wire the Microtech in while I have the motor out. I can just get a lawn-chair in the engine bay and solder everything nicely and tuck it back into the harness :)

Now to find some freakin' rods.

omg I want a lawn chair in my engine bay.. that would be hot!

with the engine out is definitely the best time to do that sort of wiring. good luck!

tell me how it goes!!! mine is sadly welded and jb welded on toop of that now ..sad

Will do! I got all the interior wiring for my gauges done but reassembly of the climate control was driving me nuts. I think I had the air flow/air mix things going the wrong way. I hate those things. And in order to mess with any of that junk, you have to take everything apart. Ugh.

We still need to get the leveler for the hoist, but once I get that the engine should come out pretty shortly after. That should be some time tomorrow.

I'm still up in the air about the motor. I haven't heard back from Ken @ PG or Steve @ NSN. Heck I still don't even have my protege garage intake manifold :(

Speaking of gauges... I "installed" mine today (really just put them in-place) but I didnt know where to slice for power. Where did you wire them to?
I was thinking the ignition but not sure which wires to use.

I got one of those add-a-wire fuse taps and plugged it into the radio fuse, I think it'll work but I can't test it right now lol

You can use the accessory wire hooked up to your CD player, that's what Kansei did.

That reminds me, do you still want the s-pipe? Let me know, as I don't need that and the gasket/studs for it.

I wanted something close to the A pilar than what Chris used.

Yes I do... What do you want for it?

Yeah those add-a-wire fuse taps are pretty nice. I should get one to make my radar detector's mount more professional.. right now, I just pulled a fuse, wrapped the power wire around the post on it, and put it back in.

Napa or any autoparts place will have them, probably radio shack too. Or online at partsexpress.com It is right below the a-pillar so that is perfect. When I put my tweeters in the a-pillar, I just got the wire up there by "flossing" it in, if that makes any sense :D

$75 shipped for it, the gasket between it and the J pipe, and the new studs? You can use the nuts on it or just get some new ones. Oh and I might have a gasket for between the J and mid, I'll throw that in there too.

Oh and now I'm really confused about the damn climate control thing. In the manual, it looks like the left-most knob goes to the passenger side thing and the other knob goes to the drivers side thing. I'm 99% sure that wasn't how mine were hooked up though, because one side was missing a clip and the other wasn't. Anyways, I haven't messed with it yet. It is a PITA. The one wire doesn't want to stay in place, so I have to remove the bezel to adjust things. But you have to have the bezel on to attach them... then one side doesn't work... rinse and repeat, with SULFURIC ACID

No, that's how it is. Knob on the left goes to the right, knob on the right goes to the left. I was all up in that biotch yesterday redoing my once beautiful and now more beautiful radio/gauge wiring harness :)

what he said....air temp left goes to the right and air location right goes to the left!

Awesome... I'll take it.
I should still have your paypal address saved.

Sweet, I'll ship that out when the money clears.

I got the climate control system back together and never want to touch it again. The wires behind it are so heinous thanks to the gauges. Ugh.

The motor is like 99% disconnected. The passenger's side axle is being a royal pain though. Other than that, it is just the motor mounts.
