Alarms With 2Way Remotes

Does anyone here have one of the newer alarms with the fm transmitter and 2way lcd remote? I was curious as to the range on the transmitter and how well they function in general.

I'm curious on this also as I plan on getting one in about a week. Either a Clifford or a Viper. Both are made by DEI, but the viper *might* be cheaper to put in I hope. :D

probably, since cliffords have more mark up on them. Are installers get paid more for installing a Clifford concept 100 then a Viper 790.

The distance is like a 1/4 mile.

Thanks! Now all I have to do is figure out if 1/4 mile is worth the extra money. Since most of the time when I am within 1/4 mile of my car I am within earshot and sightline.

The good thing about the 2 ways is they tell you what has gone off. So if the alarm, goes off from a really big truck, uit tells you it was a shock sensor and not a glass break or door having been opened.

The problem is I have no clue which of this years models have the 2 way, maybe only clifford as my DEi rep has send me NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In my case I have a Black Widow alarm that it can be added to at any time for like $100 bones.

1st,
DEI model with pagering are going to be the 790XV, carry over from last year with remote start, 690xv, replacing the 600ESP, and 890XV, replacing the 800ESP. Should be the same features just with the pager added. Also I think they are dropping the 550ESP in favor of the 790XV. Now if I could just get some of these in to replace the ones I'm sold out of it would be nice.

Best Buy.
Black Widow 4150. They have this "Spider Web Network" thing that allows different things like a PC interface and such. But also allows the FM remote as a straight "plug and play".

I checked our 2003 line up and it mentions wee will still have the 790, we dropped all clifford and alpine, and most of the other models did not change.
Very strange.

I think we are just moving the Viper line in to just our high end and leaving the Rattler, Alpine and Audiovox as our low and mid line stuff. Which is fine they all work pretty much the same with the exception of programming the Alpine and reading an Audiovox manual.

I have the Aladdin 2000 alarm from Promise Mobile Electronics. Its a really good pager alarm even though the company isnt really that known. It has remote start, 1/4 mile range, and you can add on modules from other companies. I have sold others on it and I am in the middle of installing it on my friends civic.

Promise Mobile Electronics

They have a newer alarm called the Lynx out already, but I havent heard anything about it yet. I got the Aladdin 2000 from eBay for 160 shipped.

Dman different regions make a big difference, we never had audiovox or rattler alarms. We did have clifford, viper, astrostart, avital and Alpine but I only see the Viper stuff in the new mix.

Different company 1st. never said I worked for Tweeter;), you guys are only just starting to exist out here and no where close to me yet. I work for the big red plug, CC, might look in to Tweeter when they get in to the L.A. market, since I sort of miss having commission people working for me, they have more drive to perform.

Well I am sure the new upstart stores are looking for bay managers which is a comfortable living in this field. The former head of our bay was clearing $50K a year and he was mediocer in the sceme of custom installs. Basicly if you can do remote starters and custom work up here you are set for life. Although I doubt that there is as big of a demand on remote starters in LA as in New Hampshire.

Yeah, remote start is more of a toy out here than a need, just doesn't seem to get cold enough. 50's not too shabby for bay management, but I don't install much any more since I have to run both sales and install, not to mention that's my base salary now and it's a more competative market out here. There are 78 stores in L.A. just from the major players not including mom and pop stores.

Tweeter obviously has two seperate departments for mobile sales and install. They are somewhat seperate from one another.
Most salesmen make dick but the good installers once they get a custom install rep make a s*** load. Dave, my former bay manager was well known as a great alarm/remote starter installer and a video system installer. Another installer I know in Mass should clear $70K this year now that he has won competitions and drawn some very big custom install customers.

Yeah, a good custom installer can do great but I'm not in to getting in the car all day any more, been doing it for too long.
It's not all that hard running both departments, we've been doing it for years, my current store has installation across the street behind the store and I can still run both, just takes a lot of walking. Also I don't like having anyone being my boss, we get the advantage of being a different division of the company. My bosses office is 60 miles from me, I just have to work with the store and not for them.:)
