AEM F/IC writeup

You can call them a MAP sensor if you want, but it not used for the "load" parameter on our fuel maps. Many cars and the aftermarket ECU's and piggybacks have a MAP sensor used to determine the amount of fuel to inject into the engine. Our car does NOT. It uses the MAF signal as the load to the engine. The mitsubishi MAP or boost sensors are not used as a fuel parameter. They are simply there to determine if the EGR is working. One is there to make sure it opens and one is there to make sure it closes.

The EGR boost sensors have nothing to do with the F/IC. This is an F/IC thread. If you want to discuss how EGR works, please start a new thread.

^^ thats basically what i said a few posts ago, and in the wikipedia article at the bottom exclaims that some cars use MAF and MAP, the MAF measures air and the MAP measures EGR to make sure its working... people dont read posts that are too long im assuming...

Sorry, I read through all your posts and even the links, I am just trying to make it clear to my fellow FIC guinea pig, and anyone else who stumbles upon this thread.

Hahaha, yea that's me. I didn't realize you guys were talking about the mitsu solenoids. I knew those weren't typical MAP sensors. My friend accidentally broke one of them when he was helping me install my CDM EGR valve and we were looking at the cap on it (where the logo is). That b**** was about $70 to replace with my discount at the dealership.

Anyway, that's a sigh of relief to know I don't have to **** with the MAF wire again, but at the same time I want to figure out this bucking issue. This weekend I hope to accomplish relocating my vacuum block.

Any good news ?

Relocated the vacuum block today and all seems well with that. I need to go buy some additional clamps so I can relocate the MAF. Then I will be ready for another test run.

Sorry for the slow progression, I ordered another pack of Vibrant t-bolts and should have them tomorrow. I sold my netbook because I want to buy an upgrade so right now I dont have a laptop lol but I can borrow one from my family since we have like.. 5. Haven't had much time to fool with my car because of work and school, but I will try my best to get this rolling asap.

Well after posting my status this morning, I got bored and started thinking about what I could do to my car. I found an extra t-bolt that I could use on the MAF, so I relocated it again and this time I reset the fuel trims. No CEL, no rich idle AND no bucking! I decided to leave the BPV installed for the time being since it really won't make a difference whether it is installed or not, now that the MAF is behind both the BOV and BPV. Still runs a little rich, but I can lay on the throttle and won't get much hesitation so I am headed in the right direction.

I also bought a new code scanner that can show live data, since I realized the first one I bought cannot. So once I get a new laptop I will be using both devices to get a decent tune until dyno time this Spring.

Jdwk has made more progress with tuning than I have so he might be able to help you out, but I think you might find it easier to start one from scratch and do it yourself because of the environmental factors like atmospheric pressure. I would show you mine but honestly I haven't made many changes at all yet so it wouldn't get you far. Also I don't have a tuning laptop right now to copy the map lol.

lou is your car running? Do you have the fic-6 or the fic-8?

Yes Car is Runnig!! Idles good starts right up! He changed a few things on the instructions. No check engine lights what so ever!! If you need any help i can send you the copy he made!
