2nd best car in the Nation

A guy I know pretty well in Fredericksburg was recently awarded the title of the second best tuner car in the nation. He owns a 99 Mercury Cougar, sponsered by so many companies it's unbelievable, including Aerogear and Meguiar's. Sadly enough, he's currently behind a Cavalier, which holds the number one spot. I also never knew how successful one could be in the show scene. He has made so much money! Aerogear recently bought him a brand new Hyundai Tiburon GT V6, and he bought himself a brand new RX-8, which he loves. He also just bought a new house, and a new Ford F-350 Duelie, which he dropped a full body kit on and air bags. It's friggin rediculous. Anyways, he got started by starting the site www.customcougars.com, and that made me wonder...does the creator of this site get by the same way James does? His name is James Howard, and I attached pictures of his car.

Yeah, but he didn't even have money when he started. He started that web site, and the sponsors kicked in from there.

that car showed with our club at the motortrend show in 2002, well fox motorsports did, and he was with them, but same display area...

that car is absolutely the bomb!, he gets a new paint job every year, when he was at that show, it was all yellow...

if anyone sees it in person, be sure to check out the HUGE-ASS tv in the hatch lid!!!

I need to see closer pics...

I dont know if he's in thr running for "Top Tuner Car" or whatever, but there's this blue Celica I saw at NOPI in Atco a few weeks ago that was abosultely AMAZING(shocked)...Looks like he's got a lot of the same type of stuff done as this cougar...I'd also like to see pics of this cavalier you speak of

It's a pretty nice set-up, but there doesn't seem to be much in the way of "tuning"... From the web site, it looks like there's a lot of show and not much go. I know the V6 Cougars aren't slouches, but there's more tuning options than you'd think: www.shoshop.com has a few goodies for the Cougar...

btw, that celica is turboed...Im telling you, call it rice, call it show n no go, but i saw it up close and the body work is flawless...If it wasnt so radical you'd swear it was stock, tahts how clean it was.
I was looking up close at the fender wells and the front bumper and the owner came up and was like "go ahead and touch it" cuz he could see I wanted to but thats not exaclt a polite thing to do at a car show. So i did and I was amazed. Every edge was finished perfectly, there were no cracks...I was just speechless...

I never said it was rice or that it wasn't nicely done, I was just saying that I'd be more impressed if he had done 1/2 of the cosmetics and bored the 2.5l to 3 and slapped on the Vortec 9psi kit.... Then he'd have a sweet looking car that's capable of mid 12's.

god. damn. those cars are just ridiculous..for some reason i am thoroughly obsessed with ******* cars that look like that celica...that flat dropped widebody look is just ******* tits..

I will have me a crazy looking delsol one day..call me a ***

we are very good friends with james and he has ALOT more coming with the cougar. his tibby is bad ass too. he was 2nd in the country last year the leader was Bob Mull's Evil Z (search google - it had a $40k makeover this year) --james hasnt shown at all this season. the current leader is david reiders wrx.

he originally had a cougar that was chromallusion and it got wrecked - he got a new cougar and worked his magic with companies to develop products. THAT is how his website came around -- a way to sell the new stuff he was developing. and dont say he didnt have $$ before the website -- his family isnt hurtin by any means.

also, the cougar is DEFINITLEY go -- its turbo with 200 shot of nitrous

Didn't see anything about the turbo on the website, though I didn't look all that hard. Now FI with a 200 shot is interesting. I knew the duratecs could take a beating, but DAMN!

BTW, the duratech isnt that great -- but his is FULLY built ... my fiancee had a cougar too ...
