1st day with MSP

:
2003.5 MSP
So I drove my MSP for the first time today and of course i parked by the imports (specifically next to a kid who has a Protege but wants a MSP really bad) and when I came out to my car after school they were all around my car checking it out and a kid with a tC with just a CAI asked me if i wanted to run it. So come spring when the track is open we are gonna run to see who wins. we put a wager of 20 bucks (we're all poor leave us alone lol) down. Do you think I'll be able to take him? Come spring I hope to have a mid-pipe and CAI on my car.

try to get a fmic or upgraded smic and a dp combo you'll eat him and take his lunch money, dont think midpipe can give you decent gains... but with cai's on both cars, i guess if hes a really really good driver he might take you, dont think it can happen though the msp is faster

Dude...a tC...You should beat him Starting in Second.
II should know..I had an MSP..and we currently have a tC...They are uber slow if you ask me.

Hey thats my unichip! i just got it today and installed it. I didnt have enough time to get the ebc hooked up so it's still pushing stock psi but the car has come alive. there is almost no hesitation. the car is a best. i will be hooking up the ebc tomorrow so we'll see what 10psi feels like!

Homer Glen huh. Thats right next too me, I live in Lemont. Cool to have somebody so close. I work as a server at the Chili's in Homer.

TurboXS manual boost controller... they're like $150.00 new... you'll definately whoop 'em

Oh and congratulations on your MSP!!!!

Intake and midpipe are the best start and keep it at stock boost until you do some other mods!!!

Shortshifter should also be at the top of the list in any car that doesn't have one!

Also the tC doesn't have an LSD, so you have a traction advantage. You shouldn't have to do anything to your car in order to beat him. Welcome to the community by the way.

Worst advice ever!!! I'm sure this is a joke but just so he is clear these motors will blow very easily without supporting mods!

At best, it was a semi joke. But I suppose I will warn him.... It is very bad to only up the boost without adding supporting mods first. Most MSP's won't be able to handle it and kablooieee.

However, mine lasted 88k miles @ 12lbs w/ no supporting mods. Luck of the draw, I guess. :)

Mine did eventually blow up though, lol. Pics of "MSP's gone wild" in sig link.

I'm at 13psi with a significantly bigger turbo after 90k hard driven miles myself but have every supporting mod including a J&S knock sensor.

Roadkill just search "boom" and read on and on! Just lookn out for ya!

buy used "cheap" mods:
midpipe
injen intake
hardpipes
smic
unichip

that's what i have!

just shift nicely... the LSD is a weak POS.

I beat TC's back when mine was stock without a problem. They are like 160ish stock if I'm remembering correctly and they don't have a turbo but I guess it depends on the driver. If you want to make sure you beat him though upgrade your SMIC, downpipe and intake manifold, they are the 3 biggest HP increase. And since you don't have much money to spend, keep an eye on the for sale threads and buy used. A CAI is not where you should start as you will not see much performance increase at all and for what I paid for my Injen you could get a intake mani or a downpipe.
