The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

I've got a weird noise I hope you guys can help me diagnose.

When I get to 40+ mph, I get this weird humming/vibration noise from the front suspension. And if I turn The wheel to the left, it gets a lot more pronounced. Turn to the right and it goes away. There's nothing loose or hanging down. Axle or wheel bearing maybe?

Tie rod perhaps? Can you throw it on a lift and take a peek? Grab some of the suspension bits and see if anything is loose or just hit everything with an impact.

Wheel bearing, passenger side. Add load, gets noisy. Remove load, gets quiet.

Would any of you cats ( in my Evan Lewis voice), like to head down to VIR for a NASA Event? October 11-13, 2013? I know that Tom Long of Freedom and SpeedSource will be there coaching me (yes I am paying for it) and I know that Mike Skeen will be there as well. If you had fun @ Mid-Ohio, this track is a big roller coaster ride! Here is the lonk to the event:

daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayum... Long and Skeen? I'd love to go...

My mum is in town and just bought my sister $580 worth of new house junk from Target. Maybe I guilt her into paying $400 for my HPD1 at VIR. Muhaha...

I wish, I just spent $572.63 on books and online programs... awesome. But on a lighter note I hit 68.7 mph on that back slalom Sunday lol

Also if anyone needs a dashhawk there are three for sale for dirt cheap in the Classifieds

I pegged the rev limiter 3 or 4 times on my last run. I didn't bother looking at the speed. It's amazing the I have more ps problems than motor. Oh well I would rather have that anyways. Unicorn Horn Motor FTMFW!

I had to look it up. Max mph in 2nd gear in a MSP is 63.9mph I'll take that. :)

according to the FM gear calculator, my 2nd gear top out at 56 MPH so I'm not surprised

5 speed 2nd gear, plus the higher rev limit on the Hydra gives me a max speed in 2nd of 71.7 at 7750 rpm. I know I was touching 7k a few times. That puts me at roughly 65 mph at 7k.

Evan, remember what you said about it sounding like it took a while for mine to wind out... there you have it.

One benefit of having 205/50-16's... higher top speed, and with ze boost, it's welcome. Plus my speedometer is spot on compared to GPS and road side radars.

I just checked my torque logs and I hit 67mph on my fastest run. However, I managed to hit 72mph on my very last run with Will in the car lol!! Looks like that was on that awesome back slalom straightaway before the finish.
