Anyone selling or know of a good daily driver for sale? Preferably a Mazda with a manual transmission. 626, Protege, 3, 6, etc?
You can buy mine if you want. Already modified.
Alright, anyone that hasn't registered for the labor day event at Mid Ohio, we can get a discounted price if we register 10 people for the event. There are already 5, so we need 5 more. It would be $250.
I agree, it's probably very difficult. I'm not going to adjust the car too much for auto-x. I also forgot to mention the BC coilovers have adjustable damping and I was running them a little stiffer in the rear for the auto-x, trying to get more rear rotation. I think I can make the camber and height adjustments and not see much of a compromise on-track. Here's a suspension setup plan I came up with to see if I can setup the car for track and auto-x:
For track days: Set the Front damping setting stiffer than the rear, keep tire pressures fairly even in the front and rear, use the middle stiffness setting on the rear sway bar= Should corner pretty neutral with minimal oversteer.
For Auto-x: Use same setting for Front and Rear damping (possibly stiffer in rear if necessary), over-inflate rear tires (8-10psi higher than front), use stiffest setting on the rear sway bar= Should give me more oversteer for better rotation.
I agree, the track experience has helped tremendously with auto-x. I don't think I would be getting 1st if it weren't for the track experience. On-track, you get a very good feeling for how the car reacts at the limit and where that limit of traction is. I did notice at the Toledo auto-x and definitely at the Lakeland auto-x, I actually had to force myself to make quicker inputs as far as braking and turning.
^ mine can be for sale for the right price LOLOLOL
correct me if im wrong but dont you have a speed3 and miata... whats wrong with the ms3 as a DD??
Who are the 5?
I agree with this! It's only a MS3. It'd make more sense if you'd dumped a bunch of money into it like Jake.
That's a lot of fiddling! If I were you I'd keep it simple. Get a baseline setup and dial in the tire pressures to where you think they work the best for the conditions. From there, start making single adjustments. With autocross some of the stuff is hard in between runs. So maybe try running with a stiffer RSB setting and varying the pressures between runs because that is easy to do. Or try running with no FSB.
For track days, I write down my setup for each session. Weather conditions (temperature, sky), track conditions (temperature, surface type), and setup info. Any change I've made, along with the tire pressures.
I know that Patrick signed up and that Will and I will be attending as instructors for the event. I don't know of anyone else that will be coming out to this from our group.
Phen, did you get any decent footage on the gopro from our mini fun run on the way home sunday?
How many runs do you guys get? I've been going back and forth about doing this event, now that I'm not moving that weekend. I would really like to run at Mid-Ohio at least once this year. Since I missed the last NASA Mid-Ohio event, it looks like this AutoInterests event is my last chance to run Mid-Ohio this year. I wish I got paid before Friday, not sure if I'll have the money until then.

I think you will still be able to register on Friday? Last time I believe there were something like 8 - 15 minute sessions. They got a little behind schedule so the sessions got a little shortened. I wasn't paying very much attention.
Also, Marlon don't forget about Patrick!
Speaking of driving home, how confused were you guys when I passed your group on the highway (even though we left the ice cream place before you guys)? Jessica and I stopped at McDonalds for a quick bite to eat. Then I got on 80 and realized I needed gas to get home, so I stopped at the gas station rest stop. I almost didn't make it out of the gas station because my car wouldn't start for some reason...the battery was dead. I've had the battery issue since the beginning of last winter and I only had issues when it was super cold out. So it's definitely time for a new battery, I think I got my money's worth running 108,000 miles on the stock battery haha! Luckily, I was able to push-start the car
You were flyin'!
