23 mpg??

i just managed 24.7 mpg, my personal best with my 5 speed, with 150 miles on the highway or so cruising at 75 or 80 if i was behind someone.

i averaged 24mpg in my p5 (manual, stock)...after modding it i got 32mpg on a trip from GA to NH (averaged around 70-80mph)...and that's how i justified spending money on performance parts!

That's like OK auto transmission mileage.

X2 Bazooka Joe gets near 30 and he is boosted. Now that the winter blend is here....I have been seeing an avg of 23-24mpg. Anxious to see what this current tank yields as it will be the first full tank I have been riding on the Blizzaks.

Yeah, I noticed that you guys over in Lehigh Valley were paying a lot more than I am for gas when I was there a few weeks ago. Heh.

Winter blend gas, 5 speed, and me on my fill up last night netted 28.4 mpg. That was with one day of stand still traffic, and warming my car up for 10 minutes in the morning.

The station you filled up at Saturday is now at $1.97 for regular....lowest I have seen in Jersey is $1.65.

i missed the point. I fail. lol

I do'nt think Callie even got 18 MPG on this last tank. She said she was on teh gas A LOT this tank

How does one know if winter blend is "here"?

Take a look at the pumps the next time you are at a station. The ones around here have a sticker saying that a specially formulated blend will be used between *insert dates here*. I don't remember the exact dates but it is between Oct and Mar.

Guess ya could google it too.

Thanks for the tip. Never noticed that. I'll check it out for sure.

I just bought the car. It's an 03 "manumatic" with 64K miles. A great car!

I calculated my mileage on a short 150 mph road trip yesterday- 23 miles per gallon. Is this normal?

My method for determining the mileage was:

Fill the tank. Reset the trip meter. Drive. Fill the tank.
Divide miles on trip meter by gallons required to fill the tank.

The last owner gave the car its 60k service- so it should be well tuned...

Any suggestions?

I'm in the same boat as you. I just bought my p5 about a month ago with 40,000 miles and same transmission and only got 22 with my first fill-up and 24 with my second. My car is missing the stock air flow intake so i'm hoping i'll see a bit better gas mileage when i put that in and get a K&N filter, but we'll see.

My old 02 reg auto p5 always averaged 23-26mpg in town so i say its normal around trip.

The highest I've seen was 27 in my MSP which was also the highest I've seen in my old auto p5. My gas mileage is the same as my old p5. I do seem to get more miles per tank tell the gas light came on.

However I think the gas light between my old auto p5 and my MSP come on at different tank levels. I never put more then then 11.5 gallons on my p5 when the light came on and my MSP I have put 12.9 gallons when the light came on! I thoguth we only had 12.5 gallon tanks but I dont know the pump seems to state other wise and I always fill up at the same place 90 % of the time.

I know that once my gas light comes on, my gauge goes QUICK!

where as when the wife's light comes on, she can go nearly another 75 miles.

And one other thing, gas stations are NOT ALL TEH SAME! I've put over 13 gallons of gas in my car on 2 different occasions at a certain station. Then i come to find out a girl i know refused to continue working there because they are cheating people out, by having thier pumps set wrong. I am pretty sure the news is looking into it.

I've been tempted to get a gallon can and do my own little test with all the local stations to see how much you get for a gallon
