example...did you know the new sti etc are based upon the legacy platform and has always been better for road racing?
also they have adopted more of the legacy style turbo setup and what nots. we legacy guys/womens are hoping for cheaper turbo options now.
tuning the new sti has already been done. you don't want to know what it can do.
if you want the subie go and get it. want the speed 3 go and get it.
riddle me this...
according to R&T a spec b can finish the 1/4 in 13.7 at 99mph. the speed 3 at 14.4 at 96.4.
how the hell can a 300+ lb heavier car (close or at 3500 lbs), less power (250/250), and has awd to go through out run a mazdaspeed 3?
how did my legacy gt with only a "chip" weighing 3485, full tank of gas and a passenger and i have the automatic out run a speed 3?
easy...subaru under rates their cars and tuning is available easily. get the wrx any model year...if you are gonna mod it's not gonna matter if you go bigger turbo anyways. hell, do an sti swap...
First off, that's a rather weak time for the MS3. The car is tricky to launch, takes a bit of skill to keep it on boost between shifts. In other words, the capabilities of this car are highly dependent on who's driving it. 14flat at around 100mph isn't an uncommon feet. Also, if you know anything about the MS3 it's boost limited in 1st and 2nd gear, combine that with FWD and how tricky it can be to launch and it's no wonder it's 1/4's are all over the place.
If you took out of the equation the boost limitation in 1st-2nd gear and the FWD launching issues you have a car that is hanging with and or beating cars that run the 1/4 in the low/ mid 13's. As a daily driver, most people aren't launching away from a stop all day long (this is horrendous on the drive train and not to mention makes you look like a total ass) the real fun is the passing power you get with the MS3. When you're in 3rd gear 45-65mph happens in about 2.6 secs, this is a lot faster than most cars can do and probably about as fast if not faster than an EVO / STI.
