at least we didn't get shafted like subaru owners

also have any of you seem the new celica that toyota is coming out with? or the new coupe that subaru is making? the next celica is going to be rwd with a subby turbo engine...should be pretty sweet!

LINKS?????

i've driven a celica pretty much every day since i was 16 till i got this car. i'd be pumped to check out a new celica if theyre making one. i heard rumors like 4 years ago about a 2009 supra, but havent read anything since about it. that could be a pretty sweet combo with a turbo boxer engine + celica handling and reliability.

I for one happen to love the subaru sti, and the speed3. As a matter of fact, the finance for my 07 speed3 is almost finished and the next car on my wish list is a new sti (305hp is more than enough for me). I live in canada and the last winter i just experienced here was just terrible. I've never owned an AWD car before and i would really love to own one now, i think starting with subaru would be a good choice. I'll keep the speed3 for my wife to thrash around. :)

That's exactly why i didn't end up with a ms3 and i loved the car when i test drove it...except for the clutch..i could not get used to the way it felt.^^ our winters are screwed up here - literaly it can be 40 deg one second and then you turn around and theres nothing but a couple of inches of ice on the ground. My wife and i have always kept an AWD car in the family for that one reason.

anyway here's a link to the official release

Sounds good! I wonder what the starting price is going to be... 27k??

Subaru really stepped up on this one. I'm really surprised. Now I REALLY don't know what I am going to do. I was so close to taking the day off tomorrow and buying an MS3...but it is going to be pretty hard not to wait until this hits dealerships to test drive before doing anything...This car is going to perform...

Of course, we still need to see a price...If it is $27,000 or higher, that is too much for me right now...

I think it will be unfortunately.. You can get a speed3 for 23k and use the 5k for mods and wipe the floor with the new WRX. Just think of it this way.

or buy the speed3, save the $4000, and still have a pretty damn fast car. either way, sounds like a win to me.

on the other hand, if they do manage to get it out for about $25k, then its a whole different ball game.

looks like aug. 25th is the release date for pricing..well all know then if it's a deal or not. But i agree the ms3 is still a killer deal.

new 09 wrx with 265hp, retuned suspension
i'd be pretty pissed right now if i bought an 08 (gun)

at least we ms3 owners just got jacked on color, mp3 decks and alcantera seats, thank god no engine change.

it should be faster than us now.

no one got shafted. IF you knew ANYTHING you would be saying that they are finally making stated power. ie subaru under rates the cars. also cause you have no clue...the legacy is faster/quicker/more aero than the wrx. the spec b has been dynoed many of times making more stock boost and more power than claimed.

do i even need to remind you all of the first turbo forester pulling 14 flat in the quarer STOCK? that's with awd and less power than the speed 3.

cobb isn't the end all of tuning either. they are on the conservative side of things.

if you were to take the awd out of the subie equation you guys would lose every time. with the slight "loss" of power we have traction. ever powered out of a wet corner and didn't slip or skid? i have. i think you guys trade traction for the fractional bragging rights...plus the speed 3 is just cheaper in general and i always find it comical how econo boxes try to compare themselves with the more expensive machines. we cost more for a reason.

also we do get the curse from subaru with a small turbo compared to the "competition".

yes...who ever said 3500lbs was dead wrong. my auto legacy is 3485.

also the tires are the main problem with any subaru. easily swapped. i had 650 miles on my odo when i swapped.

on the legacy forum someone swapped to a avo 380 and 0-60 is stated at 4.1. so, IF you wanna start talking modding...there is the start. All we have to do is swap turbo. plenty of options out there. if i go fmic even more options. i could swap a h6 3.0t and end up with 420 hp/ftlb to the wheels on a easy as hell tune.

just saying...do your research.

or if you weren't as poor you could get the wrx and put 5k into it and be done. wouldn;t even have to go full throttle to beat the speed 3.

you really can't knock somebody for not buying a more expensive car. not everyone has the cash to put $30k into a car, hence why i'm driving one that cost $24k and is currently unmodded.

if someone wants to make judgement that they are better than me because they drive an STi and i could not reasonably afford to do so (new one, at least) then i think they might have their priorities askew.

Way to be an ass...I'm a big Subie fan all-in-all and have nothing but respect for the MS3 or other well crafted cars, and thankfully most other fans are a ton more mature than you seem to be...

wow sorry for even starting the topic, i apologize to everyone on the boards as i know nothing about subaru. i just read what was posted about adding power and re tuning the suspension on the 09's and i figured if i bought an 08, i would have less hp and a looser suspension than 09's, i thought another +40 hp ish, was adding more power.

i think that quote "mop the floor" said it all about the attitude...

if that's the case...hell, i'll get a cheap civic and turbo the hell out of it and "mop the floor" with any mazda 3 for what? 5k or so??

still keep my legacy...

ANYONE can buy cheap and make faster. IF you wanna play with the more expensive cars you will get smacked one way or the other.

i love the one way street as well...it's i beat so and so...some 328 that cost liek 34k or so and you gusy will brag saying you only paid 23k etc...but when that 328 is modded and kicks the crap out of you it...oh they cost much more and should be faster.

add awd and better crash test rating like a subie has and tell me if your econobox will still cost 24k. some of you just don't get it. anyone driving a more expensive car could have bought a speed 3 but decided on something else. get over yourselves. it's not as "fast" as you think. a black one found out the hard way yesterday.

example...did you know the new sti etc are based upon the legacy platform and has always been better for road racing?

also they have adopted more of the legacy style turbo setup and what nots. we legacy guys/womens are hoping for cheaper turbo options now.

tuning the new sti has already been done. you don't want to know what it can do.

if you want the subie go and get it. want the speed 3 go and get it.

riddle me this...

according to R&T a spec b can finish the 1/4 in 13.7 at 99mph. the speed 3 at 14.4 at 96.4.

how the hell can a 300+ lb heavier car (close or at 3500 lbs), less power (250/250), and has awd to go through out run a mazdaspeed 3?

how did my legacy gt with only a "chip" weighing 3485, full tank of gas and a passenger and i have the automatic out run a speed 3?

easy...subaru under rates their cars and tuning is available easily. get the wrx any model year...if you are gonna mod it's not gonna matter if you go bigger turbo anyways. hell, do an sti swap...

Poor? Lmao! Try smart, just because I don't want to blow 35k+ on a car at this time in my life doesn't mean I'm poor. I know plenty of people that make a lot more money than me that are driving around in 15k and under cars, doesn't make them "poor". The speed3 is just a great value for what it is and its fun to drive. I don't think it's the fastest or best sports car out there by any means but for the price it’s hard to beat without question.

Oh, and my comment about saving 5k over the "new" wrx isn't a bad idea depending on what you want out of a car. And yes if you invested 5k into the MS3 knowing what you're doing it will be pretty damn quick and it will "wipe the floor" with the new WRX (265hp) and still cost the same. Perhaps not in a 0-60 contest but in pretty much any other arena it will soundly beat it. Besides, this was only a suggestion and not meant to be taking as an insult. It just seems you're on here trying to start s*** with people with the insults. Why don't you just chill the F&*K out?
