well, i installed the ZE cam today (FS-ZE CAM - J-Spec Cam)
and the car seems to pull alot harder throughout all gears...

the power band was increased too..my car usually died after 5500rpms...now it goes all the way thru redline

i love it....best bang for my buck mod!!!

if anyone has any questions on installation, i'll be more than glad to help

timing on MSP should be TDC 0 degrees and camshafts aligned.....

nice....how long was the install, where did you get the cams?
(2thumbs)
would you recommend this this, is it worth it? just curious because I have always wondered about changing to a more aggresive cams.

is it worth it??:HELL YEAH
was it easy to install?: HELL YEAH...getting the timing right is the tricky thing...but i've done 10 of this engines and fixed timing at least 200 times on each...so i'm pretty good at it...so good i can do it alone.

i got the cam from a fellow member VERY cheap....70 bucks shipped....a STEAL when they are 180 from CorkSport

you should definately get this..

and sandspeed....let me know if you need help installing one of this

QUESTION...what is it said about the intake cam being put in place of the exhaust cam when using the ZE intake cam?? anyone got any input?

awesome alejo, I will hit you up when I get some.

Is the intake cam the one that you installed? or the exhaust? Let me know because I will like to get one for my car!!

didn't i meet you in tampa??
man, you have a clean mazdaspeed, i love it...

and yes, it is the intake cam
i've heard things about doing the FSZE intake and putting the mazdaspeed intake on the exhaust side, onyl..you'll have to "reppin" the cam 180 degrees
..so for now, i have the intake stored and the fs-ze intake in
there's no more info about how and why do this....very good gains, proven by alot of people who have driven my car..
if you need help installing, i'll help you out...

i work for beers and BBQ

laterz

Yup! that was me! nice talking to you! I even meet Laracroft and took pictures of her car. You were parked close to her when we got there! That's cool on you for offer help! Normally i keep a suppy of Heneiken's on my refrigerator! Well looks like if i get that cam my car will perform better! I got a JDM FS-DE intake manifold! NON!! VTCS! Is basically the same FP-DE 1.8 intake manifold! Works super great! Any way thanks for the info! I will do a search on the cam!

I wanted to ask you about the J-Spec Intake Cams.
Will they work if I get a performance intake manifold, like the MAM tubular manifold? Or will they only work on the stock intake manifold? How hard is to install?
Do I have to open the engine?

you will need to remove the valve cover and remove 5 camshaft bearings, remove the cam gear from the intake camshaft, reinstall new camshaft then reinstall bearings then camshaft gear, do timing and start the engine

umm... the JDM FS-DE intake manifold doesn't have VICS or VTCS... it's just a little better than the 626 intake manifold

the JDM FS-ZE intake manifold has VICS and *is* the best out of all the FS engine's intake manifold sold ANYWHERE

I've said it for years... people with MSPs should get at least this cam if not both cams... but people never believed me (thinking that turbo engines work best with 0 overlap)... my dyno results (without a turbo) shows how much better the powerband is with the JDM s***

Alejo, Corksport has it for over $500 but I can check with my engine inporter to see if he has one for sale from a core engine! Mine works great! no VTCS BS!! I paid $50 for it!!

you going to zoom zoom live?

i might be around miramar tomorrow..dpeending on this guy who's giving me a suspension set up...

let me know if you'l be around
