ZE Cam Install - Finally!!

This is an interesting post to read... I put this cam on my NA MX-6 like 5 years ago and that was the best mod I did for that car. I was thinking about doing this for the MSP but wasn't sure about the reaction due to the turbo motor... Wish I still had that cam... sold it with the car when that engine blew a couple of years ago... new owner works at my mechanic maybe I'll have to negotiate something with him to get it back!!!

I DON'T UNDERSTAND the fact that some people, wihtout even having the stupid cam installed, say that it doesn't work!
it is beyond my brain power to understand that...
but, oh welll....
anyone have any info on the intake cam as an exhaust cam??

thnx

The reason people were afraid of it in the MX-6 community is because if you were boosting the car it did something to the compression ratio making it more prone for disaster... something you may want to look into regarding the protege as well. On the MX-6 it increased top end power significantly but low end torque was lowered. This shouldn't be an issue with the MSP due to the turbo but figured I'd give some insight from that application.

The spare race motor I picked up uses two intake cams. One is re-pinned for use on the exhaust side. The team I bought it from had supposedly experimented with various combinations and felt it was the best one for them. Unfortunately I still haven't swapped the motor in and have no idea how it will perform. Even then it wouldn't be a good comparison against my stock engine because so many things are different with the new one. There must be some reason they did it, though.

umm... the JDM FS-DE intake manifold doesn't have VICS or VTCS... it's just a little better than the 626 intake manifold

the JDM FS-ZE intake manifold has VICS and *is* the best out of all the FS engine's intake manifold sold ANYWHERE
