I don't know how Mazda agrees with this and let's them do it though. Ok, in once sense, it might bring Ford customers that are on their web site to look at Mazda.
But, people who buy imports, are usually buying imports because they are not cheap, crappy built domestics.
Case in point. My family, including myself had domestics, then switched to an all honda family. I'd still be driving a honda today if the dealer didn't have it's head up it's ass. I loved the mp3, and switched form honda to Mazda. I'm trying to get in to a Mazdaspeed now.....but, I'm thinking this is my last Mazda. If I don't get the Mazdaspeed, then the mp3 is my last MAzda. Why? because Ford is having too much to do with the rest of Mazda's lineup, and I will not buy a Ford again. I want an import, not a domestic pretending to be one. I've tried to get other members of the family to come over to Mazda, but forget it, all they see is Ford and they say forget it.
Here's something funny to think about
Main problems on the Speed/Protege are?
1. Hesitation caused by ecu/or turbo setup. ECU made by ford, turbo, designed by Callaway....both american
2. Clunk - Caused by bushings, designed by Racing Beat...american company.....some rumour saying MAzda used their own design....never really proven if Mazda made them in the US or Japan.
3. Cold Rattle on start up: Caused by ECU: Made by Ford
4. Car stalling while driving and at a stop: Caused by ECU, made by whom?????? FORD!
Just something to think about. one can argue that Mazda Japan programmed the ECU.....but who tuned it for the Mazdaspeed? Callaway?
Ford/Mazda pickups....seriuos problem with the rear brakes, who makes those brakes....Ford.
I could go on and on....
