I got this turbo laying around and was wondering if it would work with my set up? i know the oem turbo has an internal wastegate and this one doesnt. I do have the external waste gate adapter though. Also i will be using the cobb AP for tunning, i was gona slap this turbo on and then drive slowly without getting into boost, to get a custom tune. Can it be done or should i get an internally gated turbo???

What turbo is that? You need a T3 flanged exhaust manifold with an external WG. And by looking at the pic, a V band adapter to use with a V band DP.

I hope you have you engine completely rebuilt to handle that size of turbo! If you do not then the first time you get on it, you will blow your engine and be SOL! It does not matter if you have the best tuning equipment and tuner. No tune will protect a lame motor. You also do not have the right supported mods to support this kind of turbo.

You will need to have forged cylinder sleeves, rods, pistons, new studs, bearings, and rings. These are for the motor, so it does not blow. Next, new turbo manifold w/ external wastegate flange, new or rebuilt fuel pump(2nd fuel pump for injectors), maybe new injectors(debate on this), 3" inlet, fmic, and a good custom tune(AP does not have that ability yet).

You are looking at a lot of modifications and around $12,000-$16,000 depending on which company you go with. You are going to need a lot of time and money, but the outcome will be over 400whp and 350wtq!

You have to ask yourself: what is my goal, what is my price range, can afford the down time of my car?

I am trying to give you the most information you need so you do not waste your time, money, or your motor.

If you are looking for a settle upgrade for the turbo that is safe w/ stock internals and does not require much support from other mods. Then, you should look protegegarage.com, they can rebuild your stock ko4 to flow 30% more than the stock turbo and spool faster than stock.

If you wanted it installed, have a tubular mani installed with a t3 flange, you would also need a custom dp since the CS DP wouldnt allow you to hack off the flange and weld up 3"pipe with the correct flange

yes it is a cheap turbo LOL, but i got this whole kit for free, so i thought i would ask. anyone have any real experience with these JDM sport turbo's are they really that bad or will they work ok as long as you maintain them?

Lawl! Come on man you don't want to bolt that POS on to your car. Try to sale it to some sorry sap on e-bay or something, it looks like it came out of a Cracker jax box dude..
