What have you done to your P5 today?

I got the package deal w/ the TWM w/ the shifter / knob / boot / bushings. I dont' know how much a difference the bushings made for mine, as I did everything at once, but ppl on here that have done just bushings swear by them (they're the same as the kartboy ones, just blue instead of yellow ). It's a great shifter, awesome mechanical feel. A weighted knob is a must. W/ the flat black knob and boot w/ silver stitching, it almost looks like it came stock

yea i was thinkin about gettin that too but i dont want to pay 80 dollars for a knob :-\ i was going to get everything w/o the knob, comes to about 190. the knob puts me up to about 280. :-\ i'm in college so the money is kinda tight and i was possibly going to get the weighted knob later down the road in a few months or so. :-\ would it just be best to get it now?

nah dude, you don't need the knob. use your stock one for now. or pick up one off ebay or something for cheap. and in response to WHERE to do the install.. use the lot. get 2 jackstands, jack the front of the car up and put it on stands.

yea the snap ring pliers same thing right? i was planning on getting the TWM, i read that those are a lot easier than the B&M to install.

Heh..I used 2 allen wrenches and pliers. Worked like a charm.

lol you're a brave soul. I did use a screw driver tho. I managed to get 1 side out when the snap ring pliers slipped, and because 1 hole was higher than the other, wasn't able to get them back on. Wedged the flat head screwdriver in there, gave it a good lick, next sound was the snap ring ricocheting off of the concrete outside lol

good god. you're lucky it didn't ricochet into your eye or skin..scurrryy...be careful with installs please!!!!!!!!!!!

I just recently started using safety glasses.. I'm sick of catching rusty bits and pieces of crap steel in my eyes when I'm under the car

oh man I need to remember to put the bolt through my front motor mount now that the car is down off the jackstands and level again.. I drove it up and down my driveway a couple times without even noticing hahaha

now whats up with the knob from TWM. which knob is it? the one pictured on their page with the other parts is different from the one they show installed.

I spent $100 for my Kartboy shifter and bushings. Too bad they don't make them anymore.

Does anyone know what the treading is on the Kartboy shifters?? I want to get a new knob, but I don't want to use set screws.

i've got a guy offering me a mazda 3 shift knob that has been filled w/ a steel insert tha rethreaded...he said 35 shipped. think i should do that instead of the twm knob? he said it is weighted...but i dont know by how much

yea the mazda 3 knobs fit the protege5 as far as i know
