What have you done to your P5 today?

today (weee it's 1am already) I hooked up my last oil line, filled the engine oil, and am working on filling the radiator.

gotta remember that darn gear oil too :P

I cranked my car.. it started.

... but my axle nuts aren't on.. and no front wheels and stuff. so yeah.. hmm I don't have the axle nut socket, I'll have to get one of those :P

Sweet, that's awesome man! I was only able to take more stuff apart yesterday. I spent the majority of the time fighting the O2 sensors and the nuts on the exhaust manifold. Anyhow, all that stuff is cleared out of the way and I also removed the stock fans. I don't plan on removing the intake manifold - I lifted the car up on some high stands and by removing the IM support bracket underneath I saw I could reach (with some effort) the oil feed and coolant feed. The only hard part will be removing that bolt as there isn't much room, but I'll find a way :) . Because I'm not messing with the clutch for now, my next job is installation. I already have the entire turbo assembly put together and I'm gonna bring it in from the bottom to make it easier - hopefully I can get that done tomorrow...

Yeah I really wanted to but because I don't have my camera with me at all and my cell phone only takes crappy pictures it wouldn't really be anything special - just a bunch of words. It's sad that whenever I have my camera all my friends want to borrow it for this and that and now that I need to borrow one, no one has one. Hmm...

Haha, yeah I would if that was the case. Unfortunately I left my camera back at my apartment at school. I still find it hard to believe that "no one" has a camera that I can borrow for a few days. The g/f won't let me use hers because she thinks I'll break it while working on my car (ughdance) ...

Argh I need to replace the brackets/adjusters and such on the power steering pump and alternator.. I'm sick of them being a pain in the but seized up piece of crap when I need to get my new belts on!!

Yeah I know what you mean. The locking bolt on my alt./sp tensioner is stiff as hell. I'm afraid one of these days it's going to seize outright and shear off when I try to loosen it. PB Blaster and a small hammer worked for me though...

yeah I've used pb blaster, a torch, a small hammer, a large hammer (on the power steering adjuster.. can't fit a large hammer anywhere near the alternator) .. no dice :'(

for power steering I just remove the top bolt holding the pump in place so that the adjuster bolt is the only attachment point.. then it can pivot on that.. getting the top bolt back in is a freakin pain in the butt though!

for the alternator I'm not sure what to do. I have the lower mounting bolt loosened, the adjuster on the alternator did work for a while but now it's just unscrewing and the alternator isn't tilting in more at all.. I can't really get at it with a pry bar or anything either >_<

plus it's less than 25F in my garage right now.. I'll have the heater on while I'm out there but I'm sure it won't make it warm really.. just a thing to roast my hands with. 15k BTU FTL :P

Well yesterday I installed my new headlights and fog lights and today I just put the rockblocker on the fogs. HOPEFULLY soon I'll be getting a short shifter to put on. Desiding if I want to part with the money (shifter, boot, poly bushings= 190USD) or not. And then I've got to see if I can install it, never done it, I've been told its not difficult but we'll see.

the short shifter will be your most used, and best mod. promise you that. on top of the shorter throw. It's very good.. and the install is a piece of cake.spend the money.

^agreed, you won't regret it one bit. as for the install, it's very easy and straight-forward, just take your time :) if you get the B&M s/s, you really have to grease it up good to get it in all the way - it's a VERY tight fit.

Also, for the short shifter. Make sure to either rent or buy a set of retaining ring pliers. I got a craftsman set for around $20-$30. It sure made life easy.

yea the snap ring pliers same thing right? i was planning on getting the TWM, i read that those are a lot easier than the B&M to install.

yes, and yes. most definatly. costly. but worth it.

one other thing. i live on campus here and i have to park in a lot...so i dont really have a driveway or anything to do the install...any ideas? if i have to i mite go up to the supermarket fairly early and steal like 3 or 4 spots or something. all my friends and stuff either live on campus or in appts...
