What have you done to your P5 today?

bgibb, I would think that's jsust for one axle. I just looked them up on RockAuto to double check since the term "halfshaft" threw me off. The halfshaft or intermediate shaft is usually the "axle" from the tranny to the passenger side axle. But they are using that term on the site. Just a little weird. So it will be ~$70 for the one axle. Or you can check your local Autozone too. They usually have lifetime warranties in case you snap one. I was researching axles for my KL and a lot of Proge GT guys use them so if they snap an axle it's a free replacement. heh-heh.

Simon, why is your heat wrap still smoking? From the oil dripping on it? I know when I wrap a header it usually only takes a day of driving for the pancake smell to go away.

I ordered new tie rods from RockAuto today. There is nasty clunking sound in the front drivers side when I turn tight corners. I couldn't see any real "damage" when I was looking around in there so I'm assuming it's the tie rods.

Yea....how did you know lol I just got under the car and checked, its soaked in oil :/

gotta try to get that turbo drain gasket to stop leaking...not sure why its even leaking to begin with

I follow your build thread very closely. haha. And I love red RTV. I use it on everything.

HAHA! We won't warranty any turbo that has a wet dream about RTV anywhere near the oil in or out. RTV is bad news. Take a straight edge to the flange and see if it is nice and flush. What type of gasket are you using? what drain flange are you using? take some pics and let me see. I may be able to help.

On autozone they are calling it cv axles....im giessing thats the whole assembly from tranny to wheel? And if its only 50-70 with core.....300 for used is a bit steep huh?

well I washed the heatwrap and put it back on lol I tightened the flange bolts, i think i got like maybe an 1/8th of a turn out of one, and barely anything out of the other
then I went to tighten the actual AN line, and it turned quite a bit...so maybe thats why i was leaking so much oil. Hope all is better now

drove my car and used it as my stereo while i worked on an Evo8 today :D
brakes on that thing are so freaking easy to do. only 3 tools needed, punch, clamp, and 19mm socket. wish the p5 rear brakes were that simple.

gee....all ya need is a hex or allen head...each side take 10 mins for pads from taking wheel off to back on....so like 8 fer the fronts

Swapped bike mounts on the roof rack. Rocky Mounts Tandem mount off, Yakima Ankle-Biter on. The Tandem mount sits tall, so it makes a lot of wind noise, plus it's silver on a black roof rack on a black car so it's ugly!

Also, I actually use it to transport the tandem about once a year.

Congrats!

Getting new tires (205/40/17 Falken ZE-912's) and 949 Racing aluminum valve stems installed today.

Washed it for the first time by hand last night since fall. Damn, was that every some dirty ass water.

I drove mine to Lansing today to help with a brake job on a friend's Cayenne. After that was done we took his 930 out and "tested" a new exhaust setup. It's stupid fast. Also, took a ride in a track-prepped 944 Turbo. It's not as fast as the 930 but still ran very well.

Driving the P5 conservatively, I figured I was getting about 28.5 MPG for the round trip.
