What have you done to your P5 today?

no biggie. i did the exact opposite. I took out the VCIS and left in the VTCS. I remember reading somewhere, (or we might have talked about it @ the shop) that the VTCS is more for cold starts. Who knows. Heck, get rid of them all. ha ha ha.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe removing the VICS butterflies will negatively effect your low-end torque. Without VICS, the effective length of the intake runners is reduced which reduces the velocity of the air entering the cylinders. That reduction in velocity reduces swirl in the cylinder which results in shittier combustion.

It would be an interesting experiment for someone to rig their VICS so that it's permanently open and see if they notice any difference :)

^^^ how many times a week do you do that?

lol. I gotta wash mine. It's hard because I work next to a construction site so I get alot of dust...=(

pretty frequently. lols its extremely dusty and dirty here where i live cause they are extending a major highway in dallas and its literally behind my neighborhood and i work at a Detailer Shop, so i have the machines and etc.. to clean and whatnot when im not working on customer vehicles

got the summers back on, needs to be lowered.... or ill just get some 17s and a little taller tire and call it a day

this makes me want to snag up another p5...this color and get my speed3 wheels back lol. mine has slightly gone down hill in the last few years.

Nice,

Rear wheel bearing needs to be replaced.

Other than that, when I pay my loan shark (wife) for the $200 I borrowed for the rims. I'll hit up the dyno.

I bought some Yokahama Parada Spec2's for my DD summer wheels and got a hell of a deal on a compressor at Home Depot today. Now I'm poor again until my next paycheck...

How hard is it to replace a cv joint?? I got one with play..i think thats causin the shimmy..under load i could have slight to heavy shimmy but coasting or just light throttle nothing....what yall think? When i changed out the brakes, i noticed when turning the pas side axle there is a little clunck

If it's really the CV joint, just buy a bloody axle. The joints themselves are a b**** and a half to replace. Cheaper and less hassle to do a whole axle.

Got kinda pissed at the car today. Mostly at the audio, actually. Plus, some new noise came up. Its a slight whirring/vibration when turning the wheel to the right at all while the vehicle is moving... any ideas?

sorry I dont like those shoes and it needs to be lower

i think lowering is too expensive, thought it was just really struts/springs to lower it but seems like hardware and such will bring the cost up too much so ill keep riding high and pick up some 17s when i find the right deal

Kyle, the hardware can add up but you may not need everything. I went all out and dropped close to $400 for every little nut/bolt/rubber piece I'd need, this inclueded OEM endlinks for both the front and rear. I ended up sending back enough parts to get close to $100 of that back and probably could have re-used some others.

Key pieces to have on hand just-in-case, end links should you need to cut them (be sure to get MSP rear links as the P5 are too short, you can get Ford Escape front links at autozone for about 1/2 the price or so of OEM), strut bearings, strut mounts (IIRC I only used two out of four), spring seats and spring insulators (both of which you may be able to re-use yours but if they are ripped you can send them back).

And bump stops but be sure to specify that you want the stops for the MSP.

Today, I drove it to work. Took the backroads again since the sun is out and idiots here don't know how to drive into it. lol

^^^ You just need one axle, right? I'm sure that cat is selling both. And that's a bit high. I bought my MSP axels from Scratch for $250 shipped.

I would just think it would be easier to replace the whole axle that messing with those universal CV joint boot kits.

Thabks for the heads up.....they were msp axles....if ya replace ya might as well go bigger....hence my brakes

edit:so rock auto is showibg cv half shafts for p5 for ~50 each and msp ~80....is that each axle or is it only part?
