What have you done to your P5 today?

Yea I'm running 205/40's right now. Would it make sense to get 215/40/17's for the rear (since new tires always go on rear) and rotate the 205/40's to the front since the rear ones still have a bunch of tread on them?

Depends on the aspect ratio. I am running 215/40/17's, which is really close to the oem 195/50/16 height. What is the aspect ratio of your 205'? 45?

How much life is left on the 205's? That is going to be a height and width difference, so it will totally throw you off if you are going for slammed.

If you can afford it, I would replace all 4, and keep the good 205's or try to sell them

back when i had my civic, rust would constantly come off from bumping into the car when walking around or pulling bikes off the roof.

What offset do you want to go with? 17x8 will be fine as long as you get a bit lower offset. And by a bit lower, I mean like +48, maybe +40, nothing crazy. Unless you're trying to get real aggressive. Go for +25 ;)

If/when I get my next wheels they will likely by 17x8 as well. That or possibly 16x8.

I might go +40 anymore info on this would be great as Im new to the wheel thing trying to order tha wheels buy this weekend and the wheels I have on now will be for sale with tire's.

Well, w/ 17x8 +40, depending on tire size you will likely need a fender roll & little camber adjustment to avoid rubbing in the back. That depends on how low you are, also. Front shouldn't be much of an issue, although a little camber and/or mild fender roll may be necessary. Its the rear wheel wells that have most of the clearance issues, tho.

with an 8" wheel I would probly go with 225 tires to utilize the width, but the smaller the tire, the less rubbing you'll deal with, (obviously (stash)). lol

I'm 17x7 +40 with 215/45 and I'm about as low as I can get without going the coil-overs route. I just got new tires for the front wheels @ 225/45. I'm gonna try to get those mounted on the car next week. I don't foresee having any major issues. When the rear tires need to be replaced, I'm going with 205/45 so it will be a moderate stagger, during the summer months at least.

i'd suggest a 215/40/17 or if you want width, 225/35/17. it'll help with the tire rub while getting the most tire to the ground.

The only tire that I have found that they make in 225/35/17 is the Yokohama S-drive. Aside from track/competition tires. Unfortunately, no one makes a 225/40/17 that I know of. If they did, that's what I would have just moved to.

im actually wondering how much of a difference 215s make over 205s. both at a 40 height. im also going to have coilovers soon so i wonder if i have to fender roll. if 215 is a lot better then ill just get four new tires.

215's for me on Callie's rub like mad with anything in the back even with fenders rolled

going back to 205's when these wear out

I liked the upgrade from 205 to 215...

But I am on the same page as mx-p5. lol I will be going to 225/45/17 front & 205/45/17 rear soon. ;) Staggered fun. (hi)

generally you'd be looking at about a half inch of extra tire to the ground per wheel. so 2 inches about more to the ground all around. try to keep it near stock rotation height so it doesnt mess up your speedo. but also have to look at things like weight and clearance not only with the fenders but in the rear. if you are going coilovers than you should be fine with inside clearance, but if not than you gotta watch out for the spring plates.

215 vs 205 tires won't make much of a difference with inner clearance. I'm not sure what wheels he's running, but if it's on a 7" wheel it won't be close, even with struts. even an 8" wheel will fit w/ struts as long as the offset isn't stupid high.

oh hers is due to stupid offset.

I had 215's on mine and they BARELY fit a playing card between the tire and stock strut on MSP Racing Harts

when i lowered on eibach/tokico blue, had no problems

I had 215's on mine lowered on Eibach's with blues and the MSP Racing harts and my tires rubbed the struts every so often

Ya +55 is pretty high, & the p5 has a slightly smaller clearance in the rear than the sedan...

I'm lowered on Tokico Illuminas and RS-R springs (similar drop to s-techs, maybe a touch lower) and I had no rubbing @ +55 w/215/45. I'm @ +40 now, and I have minimal rubs. I need to adjust my camber and I will be fine, tho. My current rubs are solely because the previous owner of this car did a garbage fender roll in the back, and his recess cuts bow in slightly catching the tire... I made them a little better, but it will take some work completely smooth out the ripples. Bastard. (headshake
