What have you done to your MSP today?

i love the way it sounds. i used to have a 2.5 fart can on my mirage for years, loud as hell. if i cant find a set of hangers on here ill just get the corksport ones

Can you get a sound clip? I have the SP2 catback and am curious how it sounds with the catless j/midpipe combo

today (yesterday...it's 1:47 am) i installed the steed speed mani, mpnick turbo, rear motor mount (thank you, doug) and CS downpipe...all that's left is the sls j/mid-pipe.

i would like to thank mazda_pro5_2nr, dkswim and babyface for the help...i REALLY couldn't have accomplished as much as i did today without you guys. THANK YOU!!!!

i need to torque down the exhaust mani...i've got to find something that will fit the nuts on the arp studs...connect the oil feed line on top of the turbo...and, of course, install the j/mid-pipe. hopefully she'll be up and running tomorrow.

Sounds like that was one busy yet exciting day. Run into any problems?

of course...first off, the turbo needed to be clocked...i went to advance auto, napa, home depot and sears and no one had snap-ring pliars large enough. mounting the turbo to the exhaust mani was a pain...not a whole lot of room to work with...i HOPE i don't have an exhaust leak from there...other than that, i'd say it went pretty smooth...i had hoped to be done with it by around 4:00 today...but i worked on it until 1:00 this morning.

...AND one of the coolant lines wouldn't cooperate when we tried to connect it...plus the wga bracket was in the way of that coolant line...and something on the block was hitting the wga bracket when we tried to put the assembly on the car the first time.

i did...and i tightened it as much as possible...but if you've ever done it, you would understand...there really isn't a lot of room to tighten down 3 of the 4 nuts.

I haven't done it with the Steed mani, just the Thunder. Didn't have too many problems with that one, that's why I asked. I'm not too familiar with what's different installing the Steed.

nothing, just using arp studs on the connection...those 12 pt nuts are a PITA when you have no idea what to use to tighten them.

Well that's a little more understandable. I just used some grade 8 bolts/nuts. lol.
Just saw your other thread. WOW! That would be a PITA!

snap rings? why didn't you clock the compressor side? lol
unless the mpnick turbo uses snap rings on the compressor side too? the stock t25 and the t28 uses bolts on the comrpessor side...

well, we figured it would be easier with the snap ring...the compressor side had bolts all the way around it...yeah, we were wrong.

finally got tired of trying to figure out the car's idle and timing problem and put her in the shop on friday. Hopefully I'll have some good news in the next couple days!! Oh yeah....I have the GReddy SP2 also and the SLS midpipe with high-flow cat is going on while she's in the shop!!

you use a 12 point socket head. anything else and you wont get the proper torque so it defeats the purpose of using them. at that point you can just use some grade 8 hex heads.

You should be able to get the 12pt socket at any sears (i like craftsman cause its lifetime warranty)

awesome! thanks!

the car is up and running...i need to adjust the WGA...4psi sucks...i need to figure out what happened to my ebrake...the 'brake' light isn't coming on anymore since i've wired the TT...and the TT is counting down, but it isn't keeping the car from cutting off...weird...i followed the how-to on here. also, the lights on my gauges aren't coming on when i turn-on the headlights. dammit.

I just snapped a few shots of the engine bay. I know, it needs to be cleaned up. Yes, I washed the outside today. I will be cleaning up the engine bay in an extreme way before winter (just to get it dirty again).
