What have you done to your MS3 today?

anyone ever calculated their mileage against the on-board computer? I've been getting surprisingly good mileage lately according to the car's readout and wonder how accurate it is...

I keep a spreadsheet on fuel consumption and according to my calculations the OBC is 4%-5% optimistic.

cheers! thanks for saving me the work. i suppose i'll have to subtract a couple more % for having a slightly smaller than stock wheel/tire setup.

in the end there is no perfect car. it's always a trade off... you can't have big/small, cheap/expensive, powerful/efficient, new/old, FWD/RWD/AWD, simple/complicated all in one package. you gotta pick your poison. i've had 4 mazdas and 6 other cars and they all have their pros and cons. wanting something different is fine, but searching for the "perfect" car is a lost cause.

You can't blame me for wanting.

I'd love the GTI with more power. DSG, amazing seats. Oh, and AWD.

So far, I can't find that without an extremely high asking price.

i met up with a local speed6 friend of mine and rolled out to a show today.. it ended up being ghetto as hell, and it rained. But i did get these few pics before the rain(cars been in the garage since thursday night getting claybared, 2 step wax and paint sealant btw)

If all goes well tmrow with the inspection, I'll be picking up an '04 MSM mid-week and then the MS3 will make its way to autotrader and I'll seek to sell it more aggressively.

I will miss the MS3 for sure, but it was simply too nice of a vehicle to drive to work and back. And plus it'll be nice to have the extra money from the downgrading vehicles to go towards savings.

I thought I would need the space and practicality of a five-door. Aside from using the hatch a few times to carry loads, the backseats have been sat in four times in a year and a half. Plus I think the MSM will be a fun car to drive to work and back. Part-out thread might be coming sooner than I thought...

that sucks man, but youve gotta do whats best for ya. Need anymore stock stuff??

strick haz everyting you need..lol

did it need any breaking in, or can you WOT it right off the bat?

they are bench tested and broken in before they go out, so you can just install and go.

that being said, i smell a gasoline every once in a while, hopefully its just the gas that pissed everywhere when i took the stocker off and the new ones not leaking. Ill calculate my mpgs next tank and retighten the bolts after some miles....

Seriously? I get KR stock or with Forge. Give it a couple days it'll come back.

Sorry for the double post, but just noticed this one.

I was protuned on the stock BPV, got a good price on the HKS so i figured what the hell. It caused all kinds of KR issues since it opens and closes different than the stock one i was tuned on, it started wreaking havoc on my tune. (saw blips of 8-10kr cruising, no countdowns to 0, but no audible pinging) so i just said **** it and put the stocker back on. I hold less boost, but the car is much more driveable.

Wow..I'm really surprised to see you guys parting out. I guess everyone gets to a point where a new and exciting car isn't new and exciting anymore. I better hold on to the money I was going to spend on stuff for my band to catch some good used parts :)

Well El, the problem is, there is always something new out. But, I'm with the other guy - I never use the back seat, hardly use the luggage and cargo room. But I can't bank on never needing it (family soon). Just sucks because I wish I could just go out and splurge on something irresponsible. But instead, I keep modding to keep my engagement level high on the car. I was miserable when I had to put the stock airbox back on the car.

I want a 2-seat sports car as much as the next guy, but the MS3 has been incredibly reliable for me so far and I have no intention of getting rid of it. I'll have it paid off soon and will then start aggressively searching for my "fun" car, as I'll own my "practical" car free and clear, with warranty time left to boot.

I'm thinking C5 Z06 or boosted AP2 S2000...

oh and when I am done with my MS3, my next car is an 03-04 Cobra with the kenne bell. Mmmmmm.....

I, much like you guys are now, went through the whole wanting to trade bug back in the fall, and I ended up not doing it, and now I enjoy my car a lot more than I did then. I now do not have a choice, because I am getting married and getting a house this summer, so I can't have my credit pulled anytime soon. So i gotta stick with what i got!!

this car is a love hate relationship. i got it and loved it, got bored so upgraded, loved it more. got a protune, loved it, found out it was s*** and hated it. got a dash hawk and hated it more. got retuned and loved it, put on more mods and hated it, now i love it again. ****** bipolar s*** going on here

I totally get that - one of the reasons i got the hatch is because I move a Vox AC30, two guitars, my pedalboard and bag for all the random crap three times a week. Being able to drop the back seats and throw everything in the hatch makes doing this SO much nicer..and the rest of the week i get to drive a fun car that I want to autoX at some point :-)

I would LOVE a 2-seater sports car, if I wasn't a musician I would have an RX-8 right now. When my fans are paying my bills i wont have to worry about it though, hehe

i feel you on parting out and selling, its not that i don't love the car, its just i WANT to do things to it, but one thing leads to another and i kinda don't want to go down that road, plus not having a car payment would be AMAZING for saving an extra couple grand a year, which is most important to me now. i might put up a gauging interest thread today.
