What have you done to your CX-5 today?

I recognize that intersection. Not because I've ever driven it, but because I've seen it in a few dashcam clips on youtube :ROFLMAO:. Seems that a lot of people like to change lanes without warning in the middle of the turn.
I muted the video because I was cursing at the Jeep driver like a mother father. 😆 Seconds earlier she cut in front of me!

Installed the front and the telephoto camera using a Dongar adapter from the rearview mirror. I still have to run the wire for the rear camera but I am too lazy. 😆 Telephoto works great if you ever need licence plate number in case of an accident or something.

Normal view vs telephoto view
Video quality looks excellent! Have been researching dash cams and have seen Viofo being mentioned a lot.

I had a Garmin 57. Viofo feels to me like a big step forward. The audio seems a bit weaker than Garmin's audio but I can live with that. Bought the camera for the image, not for the sound. Today I managed to run the wire for the rear camera so now all three channels are up and running!

The price point is much higher but it’s starting to seem you get what you pay for, I’d rather not cheap out. Install was pretty straightforward? Where did you wire your power? Trying to avoid any exposed wires as much as possible, it would bug the hell out of me lol

I’ll take some pictures later today and try to show you how I did it.

Here we go. I did not do the parking mode wiring, as I am not concerned about monitoring while parked. I used a Dongar adapter and a short 90° usb-c cable to power the camera from the rearview mirror. For the rear camera I routed the cable as you can see in the pictures. The excess wire is coiled in the ceiling area below the feed-through. The feed-through is a little challenging but if you have the right tool it’s easy. I used a long ty-wrap cable and taped the coax cable to the ty-wrap then pulled it through. At the A pillar be careful, there is an airbag under. I just cracked it a bit, enough so I can tuck the wire behind.

This is excellent man, thanks so much for doing this! Really like how you wired everything up, had read about running the power off the rearview mirror so I think I'll definitely be doing the same -- last thing I want is a power cable dangling down from the camera plugging into the 12V lol. Think I'll be picking up a Viofo for mine and the lady's CX-5 once tax returns hit.
