What have you done to your CX-5 today?

I recognize that intersection. Not because I've ever driven it, but because I've seen it in a few dashcam clips on youtube :ROFLMAO:. Seems that a lot of people like to change lanes without warning in the middle of the turn.
I muted the video because I was cursing at the Jeep driver like a mother father. 😆 Seconds earlier she cut in front of me!

Installed the front and the telephoto camera using a Dongar adapter from the rearview mirror. I still have to run the wire for the rear camera but I am too lazy. 😆 Telephoto works great if you ever need licence plate number in case of an accident or something.

Normal view vs telephoto view
Video quality looks excellent! Have been researching dash cams and have seen Viofo being mentioned a lot.

I had a Garmin 57. Viofo feels to me like a big step forward. The audio seems a bit weaker than Garmin's audio but I can live with that. Bought the camera for the image, not for the sound. Today I managed to run the wire for the rear camera so now all three channels are up and running!

The price point is much higher but it’s starting to seem you get what you pay for, I’d rather not cheap out. Install was pretty straightforward? Where did you wire your power? Trying to avoid any exposed wires as much as possible, it would bug the hell out of me lol

I’ll take some pictures later today and try to show you how I did it.

Here we go. I did not do the parking mode wiring, as I am not concerned about monitoring while parked. I used a Dongar adapter and a short 90° usb-c cable to power the camera from the rearview mirror. For the rear camera I routed the cable as you can see in the pictures. The excess wire is coiled in the ceiling area below the feed-through. The feed-through is a little challenging but if you have the right tool it’s easy. I used a long ty-wrap cable and taped the coax cable to the ty-wrap then pulled it through. At the A pillar be careful, there is an airbag under. I just cracked it a bit, enough so I can tuck the wire behind.

This is excellent man, thanks so much for doing this! Really like how you wired everything up, had read about running the power off the rearview mirror so I think I'll definitely be doing the same -- last thing I want is a power cable dangling down from the camera plugging into the 12V lol. Think I'll be picking up a Viofo for mine and the lady's CX-5 once tax returns hit.

Nothing major. Put in the rubber/weatherized panels that mount to the seat backs of the rear seats. Don't understand why Mazda doesn't have these as part of their factory cargo tray option. I also got a set of aluminum pedal covers that comes with the dead pedal/left foot rest in black. I got the pedal covers primarily because again, the factory weather mat doesn't cover the dead pedal area. I got the pedal covers from Amazon for $19. Figure it was cheap enough to try. The dead pedal attached to the carpeted floor liner via two sided adhesive. Works decently. I then decided to see if the accelerator pedal and brake pedal covers would fit. The product description said it wouldn't fit my 2025. The accelerator pedal cover fit fine. It's the brake pedal cover that wouldn't fit. The brake pedal cover was too small. So I guess Mazda increased the size of the brake pedal in the later years of the CX-5.

Installed:

VIOFO A229 plus to ‘25 CX5 Premium Plus
Had no luck getting the power using the VIOFO hardwire kit, so ordered a DONGAR 10-A adapter and installed to the back of the rear view mirror…so simple and works great for those of us that won’t use parking mode

Car came with low wall all weather mats which lacked coverage, upgraded to
3DMAXspider Kanu front and back, much nicer coverage and look

Order OEM truck liner, not a fan of the 4 pieces , wish I ordered the 3DMAXspider for the trunk. My bad

Tymate wireless TPMS

American flag license plate frame

Waiting for temps to increase before installing:
WeatherTech bumper topper
Lower front mesh grill
Door sill protectors
Fortin One car starter
Finally had temps high enough to apply the weathertech bumper topper

Before/after/comparison to my blue 21 cx5 with an eBay carbon fiber protector

I very recently installed some black grill surround covers I purchased on ebay awhile back. I also installed a black rear spoiler purchased from Aliexpress. Both items showed up as a black metallic, similar to Mazda's black mica. Their metallic isn't exactly the same, but you have to look close to really tell. Plus, they're far enough apart that I'm not worried about it.

I bought some Blizzaks mounted on steelies.

And then we got snow for about 2 weeks in November and December. And that was it... They sat in the garage and gathered dust. LOL

Oh, I guess I upgraded the suspension quite some time ago... H&R, Bilstein, Godspeed, AutoExe

Added the AutoExe 'fresh air inlet' as well. Great improvement to throttle above 25 mph.

How was the spoiler install? Im doing the same one. I removed the tape and replaced it with authentic 3m trim tape. I plan on using a heat gun to warm the tape, and use panel prep on the paint contact area. Did you use a helper? Any tips ? A test fit led me to plan to just follow the v shape of the factory side spoilers.

For me, with a white car, I didn't like how you could see the car's white along the edges and across the back edge, under the new spoiler. I took with me to a local wrap shop, and they wrapped the original spoiler in black, just an inch or so in allowing the tape to stick directly on the spoilers paint.

I installed it alone, but if I was to do it again, I would ask someone to help. My spoiler fell right into place when test fitting, but it's hard to lineup the side edges evenly by yourself. I too bought 3M trim tape to install, but after speaking with a representative at 3M's automotive department, I went another route. He said that trim tape is not strong enough for spoiler installation. He suggested suggested 3M's 06392 along with adhesion promoter. I got both on ebay. I too used a heat gun on the tape and painted surface, and some strong homemade panel prep.
On my white car, I didn't like how you could see white on the edges and across the back, above the rear window. I had the edges of the original spoiler wrapped in black vinyl. They only wrapped in about an inch, so the tape is on paint, not the vinyl wrap.
Good luck with your install! Looking forward to seeing some pictures!👍👊😎

Replaced the spark plugs for the second time since new. FYI, this may have already been posted here but NGK ILKAR7L11 are the same plugs as the factory ones. I checked with the local dealer and they were asking $46 per for the Mazda labeled ones. I got NGK labeled ones from Rock Auto for less than $11 per.

Old plugs looked good with a nice tan color on the electrodes.
