Water Wetter-possible problem?

I just noticed after a month of adding water wetter that some kind of black jelly stuff began to form. Is there a problem?

jsut as a warning though water wetter does NOT protect against freezing... but if you lve in the deep south you can do this....

otherwise you need to run at a minumum around 20% anitfreeze

Flush your cooling system and use Liquid Performance Coolant. It works better than Water Wetter to cool the engine and it is also an antifreeze. No mixing required. Water Wetter is old technology and really only worked for race purposes since you really can't use it with antifreeze.

you can use it with anti freeze. It doesnt harm your engine.

just use water wetter... nothing else.

If i lived in LA, maybe. Winters can be rough around here and your cars AC can also freeze your cooling system. You should always use at least 20% antifreeze. 80% water and some wetter.

I assume you can use it with antifreeze, but it wasn't designed to work that way. It was designed for racing applications where they only used distilled water and Water Wetter. It was big in the motorcycle racing scene for awhile since using it with straight distilled water kept it track legal. Back when Water Wetter came out there were no antifreeze companies that had a track legal product. Now there are a few companies that make track legal antifreeze and they work better than any Water Wetter combination. When the R1's came out with digital water temp gauges they showed that Water Wetter wasgetting anywhere from 10-15 degrees difference and Liquid Performance Coolant was getting 20+ degrees.

i've been taught never to use coolant with water wetter as your wasting the water wetter in the sense that your not getting the most out of it.

i dont have the bottle in front of me , but im pretty sure WW says its safe to put in with coolant ,ive been using it for atleast 6 months how ever i do have the nasty stuff hes talking about , and been wondering about it for a while .
any one know if it can cause any real harm ? it sure seems to work well enuff

it is still effective to put in WITH antifreeze.... it just wont work as well as with just water... what it does is allows a mix to cool as well as straight water (which is better than antifreeze/water 50-50 mix)

but YES WW + water would be even better, as long as you live in the deep south where it never goes below 32 deg.

this is a problem with water wetter and the antifreeze that a stock msp has. It is a chemical reaction between the two in low temperature enviroments such as the coolant overflow jug. I have written redline and this is the response I got. I have this same problem with my msp and water wetter. This has been talked about in forced induction section in the regular forums.

so that dark s*** does no real harm correct? If it does i might just flush out my system until it starts cooling down...

no harm that is what was said in the email I received from redline. just looks nasty. I will soon got to straight water and water wetter. It is hotter than hell here.
