Okay guys, i know nothing about turbos, everyone with a turbo charged car tells me they tweeked it, and raised the HP.

how would one go about doint this, and does it involve addindaftermarket parts the engine, or is it just a software inhancement?

my car doesnt even have 1500 kml on it yet so im not thinking of doing this any time soon,

i was just wondering...?

depends on what you mean by "tweaked" it. the easiest way is to increase the boost via either a boost controller or a different wastegate. on some cars the stock electronic boost controller can be controlled through the computer via a reflash of some sort but i don't think this applies to the ms6. there is also physicall "tweaking" the turbo itself. porting, changing wheels, things like that, but these are more involved and require removal and disassembly of the turbo.

if you're just starting out and want to mod, best first mods for a turbo car are usually exhaust and getting the air/fuel ratio right, as most turbos normally run rich from the factory. from what i've read about the ms6, the turbo is relatively small so you don't want to go turning up the boost much or you'll be out of your turbos efficiency range, meaning it won't help and can actually hurt

Absolutly. For a new car with a warrenty I would suggest you do not turn the boost up.Look at a good 3" cat back exhaust and a quality cold air intake and the gain will be a substantial one accross the powerband. If you decide that you want to dance with the devil (void the warrenty) Front mount intercooler with plumbing would be the next upgrade after the above mentioned. A set of gages (Boost, EGT, oil pressure.) would be in order at this point. A 3" down pipe with a High flow cat will complement such a set up.

Typically that would be enough for the average person but there will soon be aftermarket tubular manifolds that would be able to fit a GT series Garrett and I bet cams will be available in about a year. I will also bet that Microtech will have something for the us Direct Injection folks along with injectors from say Bosch. So it pretty much depends on the length and patience of ones pocket and the depth of the hole you choose to dig. Eaither way it will be a pretty fast one.

What is the best way to keep your boost through redline. I have looked into boost controllers. Are there any other parts that must go with the controller.

An electronic boost controler (EBC) such as Greddy profec B, Turbo Smart EBC, Apexi EBC will be the controler to get where you can adjust the set and net gain on the controler to time the opening and closing of the waste gate. Now I have heard that some people have used just a Turbo smart(MBC) manual boost controler and they respond fine on these cars with such a small turbo which is very possible.

i suggest you pick up a copy of "Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell. It is inexpensive and will save you time and money in the long run as making educated decisions is the only way to go with nice cars like these. My advice, an electronic exhaust cutout is quite inexpensive, give the same if not more power than a 3" exhaust with hardly any weight increase over stock and your exhaust can be put back to stock with the push of a button. Any shop can install this for you. After that a J and S ignition device and something to control fuel.

check out our new intercooler replacement offerings, no need to increase boost and you get dyno proven gains!
