You're talking about the Protege? I'd think it would depend on what mods you have and how many. I doubt the stock ecu can take advantage of them very well. Also, if you're on the stock ecu, consider that the MP3 ecu gives like 10 more hp or whatever just from that, so I'd say there's some room for improvement. Only you can decide if it's worth it or not.
on an NA with tuning you're probably looking at 10-15hp max (best/perfect scenario) after tune, but dont even bank on that much improvement...
BUT you also have to think about how much better/healthier the car can run with proper timing and afr's, so its not just about the power

i do remember Evan saying that he did feel quite a difference with only the mp3 ecu in...
and with all of my mods a good tune could improve the power nicely...
this is also true, i'm hoping for a little more mpg too!
i know a fully bolted 3 after tune will gain around 10-15hp (and i believe that was crank hp) but thats ONLY with one thats fully bolted.... id be banking on 5-8 in all honesty

The thing with lower horsepower cars is that you can actually feel the 10hp. When you're dealing with a 90whp car, you'll feel it. If you've got 350whp and add 10whp, you won't feel it. Do you know what I am saying?
I know I felt a difference in my SlowP5 after the MP3 ECU then again with the VTCS delete and those were only 4-5whp. Just some more food for thought. But $600 is a LOT of money.

I plan on getting a SSAFC too, but that is about all I can do besides a header and a true 3" DP in my STX class. The cheapest option for me is the SSAFC and honestly I would rather have that right now because I don't plan on upping the boost from stock. It's all about where you want to go with it and how much you want to spend to get there. I myself would rather go all out with beefing up the suspension and taking turns faster than noticing straight line power. 3 wheels are better than 4

SSAFC installed and tuned for $600. A deal. Tuning isn't cheap. It was $500 just for tuning for the MSM from Mike, and I was happy to pay that much because that was a good deal.
MP3 ECU... on an FP... Not sure if that can be done or not.

You have a car with an infinitely better engine, MUCH better suspension design, and RWD. Why put money into the Protege for anything other than to keep it running as a reliable daily driver? Ok, I loved my Protege too, but it does get to a point where you'd be better off just giving me the money and letting me find something more purposeful for it.

im saying buying a piggyback/ecu for a moderately bolted NA car and expecting big gains is the wrong reason to tune an NA.... you wont see the big gains from tuning an NA car cause theres just not as much you can do to squeeze alot more power out of it...
you will have better torque curves, a smoother powerband and better parameters for the engine to run on.... and maybe even get better mileage depending on how you drive and how rich you were pre-tune

no seriously, tuning isn't cheap so that sounds like a good deal. I love my Hypertech, the car runs so much better. Depending on how I drive it I get 37 MPG like Levi does, but that's not what I was looking for. You should already be getting decent mileage from it, right?

Yeah, it is a lot of money... but add up the price you paid for all the other modifications that any of us have done, and the gains created by them... $600 isn't s***.
if i do a 72 mph highway cruse i usually get around 32 mpg, in order to get any better than that, i have to drive much slower; one time i was following my brother (whom drives very slow) going around 55-60 mph and got just under 44 mpg...but really?! how many people actually go 55 on the interstate?!? lol
EDIT: we shouldn't talk about mpg, we always post too much about it...
and since i have the MSM, i'd rather use that more and worry about a 12 year old car that's rusting out! haha...plus it IS only my daily driver...now becoming my winter beater.
alright! decision made! save the money, make more by selling parts!

Yah right. After having that new car you'll have the finger itch to look up aftermarket parts online. When we bought the Mazda2 for my gf, we was like great dd car for her. Now it needs rims, a 3D carbon body kit, and lowering springs
Can't keep s*** stock because we have to make it our own. I really want a 370Z, but I know in the back of my mind I'll spend an easy $10,000 on aftermarket parts before the warrantyis up.
