The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

^haha, join the Mazda2 mod club. It's addicting looking for parts that don't exist yet and if they do exist they are in Japan and only fit J-Spec cars correctly. Sorry if I pissed you off Phen. I think you just needto find a car your happy with stock and then mod it to your liking and then you"ll be back to the aftermarket world. Until then sell me you MSM :) JK

lol....well Good-Win does have some nice wheels in stock that should fit and CS also has some nice parts availabel now. More will be coming and maybe I should hold out for the MPS2. :)

I also agree with Chris, wrenching on the car can be fun and frustrating at other times. But I haven't driven to CT once, Mahk's on several occassions and Ohio twice just to wash or wrench on my car. It's much more about the people and shooting the s*** for a bit in-between that has me driving obscene miles. :D

i kinda hit that point with modding about 3 years ago when we started trying to have a kid. not having the disposable income makes you not want to mod things to the breaking point of others.

once Chloe came a long, the time AND the money were gone...hell i keep getting the stupid p0401 popping up, but i don't even have time to get in there to clean the EGR out...so i just keep clearing it

TDIs are available in all those listed above except the Routan.

For me, I want to mod more and I want a new car at the same time. I want to fix the clunk in the back suspension, get some MS sway bars put on, upgrade my tires and tint the windows. On the other hand, I can get a new car for cheap at work and have a comfortable car that's maintenance free.

I truely like driving/ racing my car better that building them.

Amen on this. If I could just show up at the track and someone would have a prepped car for me that was competitive I'd do that in a second. There is some satisfaction in doing the work myself and it definitely adds to the confidence in the car on the track, but sometimes the maintenance can be a drag.

Even if I wasn't going to the track, I know I would still want to do some things though because every time I look at the wheel gap on my wife's 6 I wish she would let me lower it.

I feel your pain Bill....I get the same way looking at the wheel gap on my wife's 3.

So does this mean everyone is demodding their cars and trading them in for Camrys and Accords??

I'm not demodding, just taking my sweet ass time. There's no way I could get my money back in parts, even though i got most of them off people giving up their project (new parts at used parts prices!) so there's no point to me going back to stock. And who the hell would want a Camry? Even if you decide you don't want to mod anymore I can't believe someone would want something that incredibly boring.

Anybody looking for a set of MSP springs or a 2 gauge a-pillar pod? I've make some room in the apartment. Too many car parts...

You able to stop up Saturday? If you are you can bring them with you in case someone up this way wants them.

Morning all. Was getting a bit stir crazy so I ran out quick to a local dealer who I found online that had 3...that's right 3 2004 Mazda6 wagons on the lot. I left lmao and I'll never buy a car from them!!! All were at $8900 with anywhere from 62K to 72K miles.

The first had a cracked tail light, rear bumper damage, rear pads would need to be changed but all four tires did match.

The second also needed rear pads had three Dunlops (guessing stock) that were pretty close to the wear bars and one Nexen...the kicker here is that two of the Dunlops were mounted wrong. The directional arrows were going backwards!! Guessing whoever put the Nexen on rotated the tires and wasn't paying attention. In addition the rear wiper was not stock as it was literally 6" long and it had no wiper blade.

Third also needed rear pads, had a dent in the front fender near the door that was obvious from 10ft away along with a nice spot of rust nearby. PS fender also had a smaller spot of rust and the lower portion of the fender liner had been ripped off. LOL

These were just a few of my quick observations....the one time I was waiting for a salesman to bombard me, they don't. haha

hell i get that way seeing the wheel gap i have after mounting up the konis haha

Bigger sidewalls? :)

It tried to convince my wife to get a red, 5-speed TDI Sportwagon. We ended up with a grey, DSG Sedan. Marriage is all about compromise.

So very true but I'm afraid the last major compromise my wife made for me concerning the P5 is gonna bite me in the ass for a long time. She was very adamant against me lowering the car (ask Phen) and only conceded as I needed new struts as my fronts were leaking. Over the weekend she informed me that I will NEVER lower another car I get...that's not comprosmise..that's a dictatorship. :D

Sounds like you guys are hitting that low that I was in this winter about not caring about cars anymore. I came out of it when I had to fix the 626, though, and now that I've finally got some income (first pay check on Friday, lol), I'm back into the mood of putting the KL in my car.

I dunno, maybe you should try mixing it up some more. I don't have ideas at this point, but anything can become boring if you try the same thing the same way every time, ya know? Maybe we should all go slammed... (outie)

i think the mounting perch is a little different as well and caused the car to sit higher from that

but it set higher before the slightly larger sidewall was mounted up haha

ive been in that mood SINCE winter and have yet to come out of it...

the thought of parting out and buying a small pickup/suv/crossover has crossed my mind far too much over the past few weeks
i can honestly say im over modding right now... i mean youd think id be ecstatic cause i finally got the race pipe on, wide meaty 235 tires, new konis and actually am driving the car the way i built if last summer with the lighter drivetrain for the first time but i just dont care... even with all those things i cant help but think about getting something new that i wont touch

I think maybe it's just the msp I'm at the low with, I keep thinking of the things I could do to my camaro. My newest craziest idea is to figure out and fab up an F1 style double wishbone suspension in the rear, maybe the front too but I think the front has a decent platform since I can get tubular a-arms and coilovers that bolt right in.

on a day like today I would love to have a motorcycle or some form of convertable. The latter being the safer choice for me.
