The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Everyday I keep thinking about getting a new little 250cc Ninja or CBR to save on gas more, enjoy the summer, and keep miles off the MSP.

^Nice. The onlu reason I would get a smaller litre bike is because I know I would kill myself on something that could go faster. I know how I drive and race my car and physics just won't allow me to do that on a bike. So if I get a bike with no umph I won't be tempted to do that kinda stuff on it.

no youll end up buying a faster bike a year later... everyone i know thats bought a little 250 has moved to a bigger bike in a year or less.... the lack of umph is the exact reason why... they get confident on a bike and want something that can do faster than 75 without struggling haha

I want one!

after looking through some for sale threadsI'm gonna be lucky to $100 after shipping cost for all my oem stuff. That's not gonna get me any closer to getting these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220732057821&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I really have no problemwith getting a bigger bike, but I really can't afford the full coverage insurance on a Kawasaki Z1000. The payments wouldbe around $160 a month for 5 years and insurance would be another $115 a month on top of that which is f-ing crazy. If I get the Kawasaki or Honda 250 though, I get aweome mpg for driving 60-70 miles a day, keep thoughs miles off the MSP, payment are only $80 a month and insurance is only $150 a year. Yah I want the big boy bike, but it is a no brainer for me right now to get the little guy and milk it for all it's worth. Plus my gf approved of the smaller one because of finances where as the Z1000 is out of the picture right now.

I'd consider a Ninja 250 or an older bike (CB450, Yamaha Radian, etc) before a new 600. I don't plan to buy anything new, so there's a big difference in price, right there. The main thing that turns me off from the 600's as a starter bike is they're so touchy on the throttle, it's something like a 1/4 inch is the difference between moving a little bit and doing a wheelie from what I've heard. That's the last thing I'd want to think about going over RR tracks if I forgot to put the clutch out..

The only problem with used is usually no warranty and 600's are usually beat the s*** out off. The insurance difference between a used 2006 and a new 2011 isn't much differnce. The big difference is paying the bike off and just having liability. Insurance is alot cheaper then. 600's have came along way from the the 80's and 90's bike. The 600's now are like the 1000cc bike of the past and yes a little throttle turn will put you on your ass if your not careful. Don't get me wrong I would love to have a gently used GSX-R, but for my purposes I'm better off getting the 250 and drive it till the wheels fall off. As of now I have put almost 80,000 miles on the MSP in less than 4 years and that's without driving it for 7-8 months (so about 80,000 in 3 years). I would rather just buy a cheap new dependable bike and save the car.

That's sort of what I meant by buying an older bike that isn't quite so powerful, even though it's the same displacement. With the difference in price between new and used, you don't need a warranty. That's just my approach. ;)

im saying a used 600 would run you the price of a new 250 and then your not wanting to upgrade next year....

i mean if you want the 250 then do it but when you want to go bigger next year you know ill be there to say "i told ya so" :P

and bikes were built to be beaten... ive seen bikes put 25-30k without any major issues and that was 25-30k of HARD miles haha

I have wanted a bike so bad for a long time. I think I'll stick with cars lol.

On that subject, does anyone know of anyone in the market for a P5? I found a couple of speed3's that I'm interested in and if I could sell the P5, it would be a nice addition to the down payment on the car.
